GDT: 4/16/18 @ 7:35. Opening day rematch edition.

I’m guessing Chip had no idea what fangraphs was until some new member of the Braves FO told him to start referencing their work.

We can see the modernization of the organization slowly creeping out to the casual fans.
Chip is a lot of things, but at least he is good natured. He’s always going to be an extension of the ideology of the front office, so as the front office becomes more analytically inclined he will be more receptive. He’s the classic homer.

Joe is a curmudgeon that will allow some analytics talk as long as it doesn’t contradict traditional baseball knowledge. The day he goes away will be a great day for Braves fans

Chip is killing me with all of this statistical ranking stuff not even 15 games in.

Ryan Flaherty won't even finish top 200 in hitting.

Joe is just an annoying person. Not sure why the organization thinks he's good at his job.

hopefully whenever his contract is up he is not renewed. with that being said, who really determines who the broadcasters are these days? isn't it a network decision?

Weird scheduling quirk to have 6 of your first 9 home games be against the Phillies. Then they won't visit you again until the next last week of the season come September.

Weather is likely a factor with the attendance, but who wants to see the Phillies again after just seeing them two weeks ago? Kapler makes these games 4 hours long, and they are weeknight games.

Encouraged by Julio outing. From my memory his velocity increased as the weather warmed last year. If he can add that along with his new and improved slider we could be in store for a good year.

I think it’s a network decision that’s primarily driven by the teams. The Marlins and Red Sox, for example, have successfully influenced the replacement of broadcasters in recent years. My bet is that Fox Sports South consults with the Braves on these decisions which likely means Joe is here to stay.

results for Julio look good so far. fastball seems to be 89-90. curious how his breaking stuff pans out when that info is in.
