Soroka to DL

Another 10 day DL stint. Something to worry about or just some more roster manipulation? We selected the contract of Danny Santana, who has actually been really good in AAA.

Maybe he just came back a little too early and that could explain some of the lost velo? I don't know, I'm looking for some positives out of this.

This would explain the loss in velocity. Hopefully it's nothing bad... Soroka is a huge piece of the puzzle for us.

They are saying that it is right shoulder inflammation so it doesn't sound too serious. Maybe give him a couple weeks to make sure he is 100% when he comes back.

You might as well. This is technically the last year before THE year, so I wouldn't go crazy and make a big push as-is, especially with young guys.

Kinda saw this coming...

I’m most concerned about any further decline in velocity for Soroka.

After seeing Soroka's velocity drop in every single start, I wouldn't be surprised to see him rested soon too.

This really isn't what we want to see with young SPs. Soroka at 91 is a lot different than Soroka at 94.

Makes it likely we will see Allard in the rotation sometime this year. He's been the best guy in the AAA rotation in the past few weeks.

Current major league rotation currently consists of:

1) Suarez...an ok depth option but a guy who has given up a lot of home runs in recent years and is benefiting from a lot of BABIP luck this year.
2) McCarthy...always an injury risk
3) Folty...currently on the DL
4) Teheran...has already been on the DL this year and has seen some alarming fluctuations in velocity
5) Newcomb...knock on wood he stays healthy and effective

We've been fortunate in having relatively few missed starts by the rotation this year. Having some injuries and missed starts is normal. Every team needs to assume that they will need 8 pitchers to make 10 or more starts in any given season. That's why its good to have some decent options in AAA. Soroka has already stepped in for 5 starts so far. Wisler and Fried have made starts. I think Allard and Gohara will get some opportunities as well.

Anyone still think it is a good idea to move some of our "starting pitching surplus" at the deadline?

Can someone please list all the pitchers the Braves have again? Maybe stick a * next to the healthy ones?

Haven't seen them all spelled out for a day or so, and I've forgotten which guys are in the organization.

To the eyes his stuff has seemingly pretty consistently dropped off in the bigs after making more than 1 start in a row.

It's very concerning. I hate it, but that troll on twitter that talked about Ronald, then Mike might not be so wrong after all.
