Around the League: 2017 offseason edition / 2018 Season

I know we have complained about the strike zone for Braves hitters this season a lot, but we have two of the worst strike calls against us this season per Fangraphs. So, its not entirely unfounded fan speak. At least two of them we have complained about were legit...LOL

yeah...not to mention the strike 2 call to Albies in the all-star game

Not sure if anyone has noticed, but the Rockies are suddenly in the playoff picture. They've won 7 in a row and passed Arizona in the standings. Only 1 back of the Dodgers for 1st. There are 4 good teams in the NL West, and them beating up on each other the rest of the year only helps our chances.

Meanwhile the Brewers have faded a bit. Only 2-8 in their last 10 and now 2.5 back of Cubs. NL is wide open this year.

it should be an exciting race to be part of...no one is running away with anything in the NL

Logically one would pick the Cubs or Dodgers to win the NL but it's as wide open as it's been in some time since 2015.

Suddenly the Pirates have won 10 in a row and passed the Cardinals in the Central. The NL West and NL Central both having 4 tough teams only helps us. There really aren't many bad teams in the NL, aside from the Mets, Marlins, and Padres. The Reds started poorly but had been much better over the past couple of months.

Marlins too for that matter

Britton to the Yankees seems to be what’s going down, and Tate was pulled from his AA start. That would be good haul for Britton. Maybe one of the Os SPs is also involved.
