Florida was PPD Monday, scheduled a DH on Tuesday. Then the second game of the DH was PPD. Now today's DH is PPD.

Get out of the Florida State League, please.

Yeah, I'm not a Florida native but every time I've been down there in the summer it's seemingly storming in the afternoon or there's a chance.

Touki

5 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 6 SO

60 pitches

As everyone here has probably surmised from my posts, I'm in the Ernest and Julio Gallo school ("We serve no wine until it's time") when it comes to prospects, Toussaint is making a strong case to join the big league team at some point this year. He has to go on the 40-man over the winter anyway, so there's really no roster issue. He's still a work in progress when it comes to the walks, but his strike-to-ball ratio has really improved this year.

I love Touki and if he can maintain a 3.6-3.8 walk rate here in the majors I would be satisfied with that. I think he has the stuff to succeed at this level with that walk rate. If it jumps any higher than that though he may have some struggles. The guy is still incredibly young and I think he is the highest upside pitcher in the organization. If I had a midseason top 100, he would probably be the highest ranked pitcher in the organization right now. Definitely in my top 50.

Touki has had a nice steady climb through the majors. Everyone needs to slow down and let him continue that development. No need to rush. September call up. Spring invite. Then see from there.

Agreed on all counts. Touki providing reason to believe.

This. I agree. He's consistently improved, and it's been impressive, but he needs to continue that development.

Touki

8 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 4 BB, 8 SO

Riley 2-4 BB (No K’s last two games)

Touki line is misleading to how his control was. He was just missing in the 6-7th which resulted in 3 of his walks. Not sure if tired or K hunting. But to go 8 innings with 8 Ks and 4 walks on ~105 pitches is rather efficient.

And Touki is 22. Control issues with a 22 year old are much different than control issues with a 25 year old.

He threw 145 IP last year, so he should be good for 180+ this year. He's around 105 right now with 5-6 more AAA starts to go. That should put him around 140-150 IP in September, which means he will have innings to burn in 2018.

Do the Braves want to start the clock of a 22 year old pitcher? If they are in playoff contention and have a need, you betcha.

If the Braves are still in playoff contention by then in August, I'd like to see Touki up before September to make him eligible for the playoff roster. Like maybe call him up the last week of August 5 days after his last start from there. And let him get 2 innings at a time from then, hopefully not in games that are not in doubt.

I think we established the other day that, as long as we put him on the 40 man before Sept. 1st, he would be eligible for the playoffs regardless of when we call him up.

If we weren't in playoff contention, I would agree. But given that we are competitive and we have a clear need for pitching, I think Touki should be coming up at some point this year.
