GDT 8-20-18 THE ANIBAL AWAKENS

If the Braves miss the playoffs, in this season in the NL, it's going to absofreakinglutly be on only 1 stretch, even considering many games that can be discussed. Losing seven straight to the Giants and Rockies at home and getting absolutely slapped around in the process, with those teams looking head and shoulders better than the Braves.

The frustrating thing is the Rockies looked very average. Anything remotely like decent baseball by the Braves and they probably take 3 of 4, even with the Rockies crazy luck.

It took an obscene number of bloop hits and the Braves playing their worst ball of the season for this sweep to happen.

I think it will be overall performance outside the division.

28-36 outside the division vs. 40-19 inside of it. I mean, for ****'s sake, losing records vs. the Reds and Orioles. We have a much more difficult schedule than the Phillies remaining so realistically we're going to need to win five out of seven against them in those final two weeks to take the division the way things are going.

We go to Pittsburgh now to face a team that needs a series win desperately.

Road trip to Arizona and San Francisco, where we've struggled lately.

The Cardinals are on one of their typical late-season tears and are coming here soon.

We have to play the Red Sox, who have been dominant.

We've got to find a way to turn things around outside of the East.

One other important factor to remember is that the Braves will continue to bring up the promising youngsters. We are a little ahead of where we should be on total wins. Hopefully the Braves get some wins in Pittsburg.

I like "Dancing" and "Swag" Emma a lot better. However, after the way we played the last four days, this is the one we deserve to see.

At the end of the day I'd rather lose a game than lose Minter to overusage, obviously. I don't get the narrative that "we had a chance to steal one", if we were playing the Red Sox and that happened sure but we know we can beat the Rockies. We let one get away but I don't think the Rockies are sweeping us at home. It just sucks because I felt like we had astronomical odds of winning that Facebook game in Washington had our starter not gotten hurt. Oh well, it's about how we respond now. Also just for the record I don't have my spears out ready to scalp Dansby either, errors happen.

In my defense I didn't see another blown save coming but I'll Man Up though and admit I overlooked the Rockies. We just have to have a good road trip now against some struggling teams. Some Acunamania starting up again would be welcome but either way we just have to win!

Atlanta finishes with a 5-13 home record vs. the NL West in 2018:

Colorado (0-4)
Arizona (1-2)
Los Angeles (1-3)
San Francisco (0-3)
San Diego (3-1)

It seems funny because baseball is a long season, but in this year's NL, unless someone collapses, yea, the season for really everyone could potentially have a small percentage of games be the turner for if whether the team makes the playoffs, or misses the playoffs.

At least we’re not the Phillies who just lost 3 of 5 to the Mets while going up against a bunch of scrub pitchers sans Syndergaard.

This is why people can keep harping on our record outside the division, but if we keep dominating NL East opponents like we have, we’ll probably win it.
