GDT: Braves @ Dodgers (NLDS Game 4, October 7, 2013)

CJ has a deceptively good swing. With the bat held high at address he looks like he's gonna have a long HR type swing, but then he keeps his hands in and looks like he's trying to go to right field with everything. Just has great bat discipline and control. Wish his success could influence others in the lineup - Simmons, to begin with.

Simmons would have a lot of success with that approach. You are right about that.

Fredi's channeling of Bobby may have backfired on him. Bobby has always been loyal to guys. Carpenter has been great for us all season, and Fredi's loyalty (something Bobby would have done) is what ultimately is going to be the sour grapes from this game.

Bobby would've played it out the same way with Carpenter and Kimbrel back to back. Unfortunately it didn't work.

Let's not start calling Fredi loyal. Take a look at the postseason roster.

Struggling to remember the last time he threw the ball to second in the air. I love Mac, but I wish him the best as a DH in the AL. He's been a very good catcher for us, but we cannot continue to have his bat disappear down the stretch.
Mac has improved on his throw to 2nd. As long as Mac doesn't go to the Yankees or another NL team, I'll pull for his team. Anybody's bat can disappear in a short series, especially facing Kershaw twice.

As stupid as it sounds, I think Bobby probably does the same thing in Fredi's shoes.

I frankly did not see any difference in Fredi managing this than Bobby would have. I don't know if that's good or bad, but it's kind of weird that this game was managed similarly.

Bobby would've left Garcia out there for as long as Fredi did. He would've IBB'd Hanley too to get the lefty-lefty matchup with A-Gon. He would've used Carpenter in the 8th and bridge to Kimbrel in the 9th because that's kind of how it's been the last few months of the season.

Would Bobby have used Uggla over Elliot? Who knows, can you remember a player that sucked that badly the last few months of the year that Bobby stuck with in October?

Nothing weird about it. Except for sounding dumb in interviews where BC always sounded crisp and smart, Fredi is BCII.

Hope Fredi keeps talking. The more he says, the better the odds he gets fired. And luckily the camera caught Kimbrel calling him out. Sure doesn't seem like the players respect him all that much.

Found two more. One was in a tie game against the Giants in 2010 NLDS. The other was a blown save where he stayed in and finished the 10th in 2011.

Mostly pointing out DOB idiocy.

We lost in pretty much all of them except the Ankiel Hero game.

Have to say, even with how heartbreaking this was, it was pretty soft compared to the last 3 years. That just shows you the kind of turmoil we've endured. So, there's that, I guess.

And I just knew that was going to happen. I could feel it in my bones.

Not gonna lie. Before Puig stepped up to the plate I already knew he was on base, and I just pictured Uribe doing something to hurt us.

Kimbrel wanted the ball for two. He had successfully done it before. And evidently he asked for it. He is also the best pitcher on the team. You give him the ball. No one can defend that move.
