by that same token, tho, we play the phillies. who would probably love to throw a wrench in our plans.
Have you seen the Phillies lately.

The Phillies look like they've packed it in for the season.
Addison Russell has been placed on Administrative leave by MLB because of domestic abuse charges. That hurts the Cubs, loosing their SS.
I'm actually beginning to wonder if we have a distant shot at #1 in the NL now. A week ago I would've thought the chances at that were slim and none but now I'm not so sure, Cubbies really struggle with Pirates pitching and they're going to play what will be a desperate Cardinals team next, given that the Brewers have been pushing them around this week.
edit: Although the Brewers also play in here too, so it could just mean if the Cubs continue struggling that the Brewers finish 1st.
Right, if it were just one team to catch, I think we would have a shot at it. The fact that there are two teams makes it extremely unlikely.
Braves will sweep the Mets and Phillies. Good chance at #1.
Cardinals magic number to be eliminated from the division race is 1.....and unless my math is off, they are eliminated from catching the brewers in the WC
i do not want to go into the playoffs on that kind of winning streak
If the Cubs lead the division and the Brewers are 2nd and the Cards aren't eliminated from the division how can they be eliminated from the WC?
why? winning previous games has no real bearing on winning the next games or not.
Cardinals are 1/2 game back of Colorado for the second wild-card.
