Arod mentioned Harper again tonight. I don't think it should be dismissed as a pipe dream just yet. Whatever the case I hope the Braves only target guys in their prime, not guys like Donaldson, Posey, Perez, and Bumgarner. All those guys are broken down and past their prime. The Braves window is just opening, lets don't start closing it with a repeat of Wainwright, Tex, or Butler trades. We have been patient this long.
Of the pipe dreams I like Machado a lot better than Harper. I have no idea how to value Harper and what he’s worth. He had one insane year but there is some inconsistency going on. This was definitely a rough year for him and he was healthy.
I dont see why we cant afford one big move like a Harper or Machado. Of the two I prefer Bryce because of the OBP. Harper gets on base and thats a skill I dont see diminishing. Machado's is one season away from a .310 OBP and he wasnt anything special with the Dodgers. We could trade Teheran and save 11 million right there. With that 1 year left and an option Julio should be easy to trade even if we dont get anything of value back.
I think Bryce Harper could do better in a better environment. The Nats are just a loser organization.
Harper - 9 years 300 million - 33.0 million per year with an option for year 10 at 33 million with a 9 million buyout. Opt outs after years 3 and 6. Defer 10 million from each of the first 2 years until after Harper retires. Ideally revenue goes up a good bit from becoming a perennial winner and WS contender or he opts out after years 3 or 6. I think its a good bet he would opt out after year 3 or 6 unless he severely declines. So years 1 and 2 he would be making 23 million of which we can make up almost half that by dumping Teheran.
Machado I would offer 7 years 210 million. Opt outs after year 3 and 5.
With all the pitching prospects we have I think we can keep the pen and rotation relatively cheap. Plan to replace Ender with Pache when he is ready to save some money.
I doubt very much that the Twins will entertain any offers for Rosario. They might for Kapler.
Not really the right thread, but one offseason project I would like to see is a teardown and rebuilding of Ozzie Albies' approach.
Twins have a lot of holes and Rosario has only 3 years remaining control. Maybe they try to extent him this off-season, but if not they'll most likely field offers for him, even if they don't actively try to trade him.

I don't think the Twins are typically a club that looks to deal players in early arb years. I'd be pretty surprised if he is moved.
harper more than machado? why?
machado is getting way more than that.
We need better hitters
In an ideal world we would get a couple of lefties
Ff is our only lh hitter.
Neck should be gone. Carmago and Alvord better from right. Inciarte league avg in a good year.
Riley is our only close bar and he’s rh
