Chipper Jones picked the Dodgers to win in 4.

They didn't need to...that's the whole point that you're not getting. They did nothing wrong...the so called writers that slammed the Braves were fans of those teams or just writers that don't like the Braves. They called them fun police for sticking up for their players. Every catcher in the league gets in Gomez's face. Maybe they wait until he crosses home plate, but they get in his face. Every team in baseball defends a teammate that gets spit at.

They did nothing wrong? Homers gonna home.

They did nothing wrong dispite everyone in baseball and that follows the game thinking the Braves acted like douchebags. Oh wait, that's just bc everyone hates the Braves.

"every catcher gets in Gomez's face'-----that may be my new favorite one.

Well agree to disagree.

Cal Ripken would never pick against the Orioles, even if he felt the other team would win.
I'd imagine neither Jeter or Rivera would do the same to the Yankees.
Helton will never pick against the Rockies, even if he feels the other team is better.

These guys are lifers on their teams. Chipper is a lifer as well. We rolled out the red carpet for him in every way you could imagine. Chipper will have another job with the Braves in a few years in a more important position whatever that may be.

Michael Corleone told Fredo in Godfather... "You never take sides against the family." Chipper has been apart of the Braves family for decades, for him to pick against us even if he felt the Dodgers were a better team, was a low blow to the fans.

Some of you guys (not saying you directly), love Chipper's candidness. Well his candidness and his loyalty to the team in this instance were cancelled out.

Cal Ripken wants to manage the cross town rival Nationals.

Former players go on to coach at different places all the time and root against their 'family"

If Chipper said he was rooting for the Dodgers, you would have a point. He didn't He even specified how he bleeds blue and red or whatever he said.

I don't understand why a former player has to lie and/or talk foolishly to appease current players and fans.

Chipper is no ordinary former player. We aren't talking about Marcus Giles, Rafael Furcal, or Ryan Klesko. Chipper is Mr. Brave after Hank Aaron. You don't seem to find the problem with the franchise player for 20 years picking against his team?

It's not like he left us on bad terms, he left on his own terms. Fans worship the guy, and he'll always be remembered as one of the greatest Braves who ever lived. Many of us put him above Maddux,Glavine,Smoltz because he played for red and blue only and not went to another team.

Cal Ripken wanting to manage the Nationals is an entirely different story. Cal Ripken is not interviewing for an Orioles job he would have, because there is no Orioles job to be had. Buck Showalter is still there.

Orioles fans would not hate Cal for going back into baseball and managing the Nationals because it's not like he passed over Baltimore to manage Washington.

Chipper isn't going to manage the Dodgers, he picked against his own team.

Even fans are smart enough to understand if someone goes somewhere else for money, at least it's for money. Chipper wasn't paid to pick the Dodgers, so he should've just been the homer he's supposed to be and pick us.

Chipper is the greatest Braves since Hank Aaron. Always will be. My favorite player of all time. Him sharing his opinion of the series changes nothing.

Uh like we said earlier, most former players applauded McCann for standing up to Gomez. A lot of them were surprised he actually did it, but pretty much all of them stood with McCann and said "That type of stuff wouldn't fly back in the old days (referring to Gomez' stare)". Schilling, Larkin, even Harold Reynolds took side with McCann.

I guess the fans are just as whiny as sensitive as the players. Do the Patriots hate Rodney Harrison, he picked against the Patriots. ZOMG!

It doesn't change anything for me either, that still doesn't discount the fact it was a stupid move of him to pick against the team.

Rodney Harrison was on the Patriots for 5-6 seasons.

Chipper played for the Braves from 1990 to 2012. Yeah, awesome comparison bro.

Oh and Rodney Harrison is paid to be an analyst.

Posters hate players that are shills for their former team and always pick them to win BUT also hate Chipper for saying LAD in 4. Makes sense.

6 season in the NFL is a lifetime in MLB.

So, it's ok to state his opinion as long as he's getting paid for it?

I've never understood why fans care so much about what people say about their team. Get mad over the stupidest ****.

When people think of the Patriots, Rodney Harrison isn't even one of the first few names that come to mind.

When people think of the Braves... I wonder how many people they think of before Chipper's name.

It is ok for him to state his opinion if he's getting paid for it. He's paid to be unbiased on a league presented show. This isn't Brian Jordan or Paul Byrd analyzing on local Sportssouth Post-Game show. He's an analyst on NBC's Football Night in America. He's supposed to be unbiased on that show. Tony Dungy picked against the Colts before, but he's paid to do that.

Like how much you care when people say Bryce Harper is a deuchebag? :eusa_dance:

How many times did you defend Harper in the Harper megathread from everyone saying he was a deuche?

I hope no one asks Tony Boselli or Mark Brunell about this weekends game. Heaven forbid they predict the Jags to lose to the Broncos. TAR AND FEATHER!

I don't give a **** what people say about him or any player. I stated what the other posters were wrong about.

I couldn't care less that Chipper picked the Dodgers. The Braves probably should haven't either.

But I LOVE GF going out of his way to blast ATL every chance he gets. It's hilarious.

Tony Boselli and Mark Brunell will certainly be wearing a Jaguars cap when they go to the hall of fame... oh wait nvm.

So the rules are:

You have to lie if:

You are not getting paid
You are going into the hall of fame

Any other rules?
