Keuchel will get at least 4 years. If Julio is traded then I could see it more.

The writing is on the wall for Julio to be traded regardless of any free agent signings in my opinion. AA will dump him for a bag of baseballs unless he finds no possible way to add another starter and fix the two remaining holes in the team (cOF, bullpen).

I wouldn’t worry about if he can add another starter or not as long as he can trade JT. I’m fine letting one of the young guys get the spot and use the money for a mid season trade.

I'm not a fan of Keuchal at all. K rate has been in a serious decline since his best season which was 2015. He will start the season at age 31, and he's become very hittable as his stuff has declined. Last year he gave up the most hits in the league. Sure that stat alone is not the best indicator of anything, but do you really want to pay top dollar for a pitcher who is getting up there in age with ratios and stuff rapidly declining?
His FIP and xFIP don't suggest he's all that hittable. He's never been a big strikeout guy. All the other peripherals still look good. He's still a 3-4 WAR pitcher if healthy for a full year. I don't love it but under circumstances where other holes are filled, it could work.

Ok how about this stat. For all qualified SPs (over 160 IP), he was #49 out of #57 in WHIP.

I just don't feel comfortable giving a pitcher that much money who has the stuff of a back end workhorse.

Scooter Gennett for Julio Teheran ? He plays LF?

Apparently the reds are interested in moving him instead of extending him. Does he hit enough for Lf?

i think he definitely hits enough. but no chance in hell the reds are taking teheran for him. we'd have to give up something legit. worth looking into, IMO.

Not necessarily straight-up, but they're likely looking for pitching in return and the potential guys mentioned in that article were Alex Wood, Tanner Roark, Ivan Nova, and Sonny Gray.

They'd have an extra year of control with Julio, and AA could easily sweeten the offer with a lesser arm.

Heyman: Braves, Reds and the Phillies are three prime teams on Keuchel. But what if Yankees lose out on Happ. Might they pounce?

Heyman: Funny that Marlins have said they’d prefer to trade Realmuto out of the division, and they just can’t chase those teams out. They know him best. Mets and Phils r involved, Braves not completely out. Nats, who chased hardest over last year, are the 1 nl east team not in.

unfortunately, i think julio is either worse than those guys or has less bounce-back upside. maybe he's more valuable than nova. but i doubt gennett gets traded for nova or julio without a nice prospect added. gennett just had a 4.5 WAR season.

What are everyones expectations for the WM as far as Braves moves...?

AA has said that he does not like making moves at the Winter Meetings and prefers to make them a week or 2 after.....based on that. i'm not expecting much if anything on our end

It wouldn't surprise me if our interest in Keuchel was just to drive up the price for the Phillies.

Bowman says nothing has changed, we have not had any discussions regarding Keuchel...

DoB backs that up saying we are more likely to trade for a frontline starter than make a strong run at Keuchel. Says we do not want to go long term on a starter
