I think folks are overrating Haniger juuuuuust a bit lol.
It’s quite possible we just saw his career year.

I do think that optimal strategy exists, but its pretty stupid to look back at something and point out its suboptimal-ness with the benefit of hindsight. If I were rebuilding in 2015-16, I probably would have traded Freeman. But Enscheff is right that keeping him was a completely defensible move. Trading him now would be ridiculous. And I think that the people saying that we couldn't have replicated his production by 2018 are discounting his value at the time along with the fact that we'd have opened up an extra 21 million dollars. 1st base is the easiest position in baseball to fill. Hell, the Rays just DFA'd a 2 win 1st baseman with an .800+ OPS this offseason. If (Big If) we would have gotten fair value for Freeman we would have gotten a LOT of prospect capital plus 21 million dollars. I think there is a really good chance that we could have had just as good a season in 2018 while having a brighter future if we would have made that move.
But once again, I'm looking at all this with the benefit of hindsight. At the time, keeping Freeman was just fine.

No way the braves are paying 18.6 per for a super sub. Even if he gets 550 plate appearances. Hell might as well get pollock if we are shelling out that contract.

There’s nothing that no one can tell me to convince me that we aren’t done...We are taking a flyer on Donaldson in hopes to flip that MFer for better prospects or picks...They will shove some young arms in the bullpen to continue to be undeveloped and ****ty and we will start the season with Duvall in a corner OF position....This entire fan base has once again been dooped by cheap ownership and management who are cunt$....

Or we can wait to see who it is we acquire. I hate the waiting too because I want action. But I'd rather have patience than to be in here moaning about the prospect overpay we did just to have that action.
And I agree Enscheff..I think a cOF will be here soon.
