Olney thinks the Braves are quiet because they’re in on Harper. Lol all these rumors

Its far more likely that AA is waiting for bargains, and those bargains won’t be available until the big dominos fall.

There was a small chance of getting Harper, but that pretty much went out the window when they gave JD $23M.

yup. I would be beyond stunned if it happened. I mean, there’s almost no way.

That's my fear as well. If payroll is at $107M, we could give either MM or BH a 30M AAV deal and still be at only 137M. You could make an argument that signing either would bring in a fair bit of extra revenue to offset some of that cost. One would have to think that if we did land either that would be the last of our moves and we'd roll into ST with the bullpen and rotation that we've got. Like everyone else here, I don't think we're seriously in on either. Looking more and more like it'll be Neck returning, with no SP moves and maybe a super cheap BP arm added. I keep seeing dudes sign very team friendly deals (Ottavino, Allen), so I feel that we're really missing the boat to make a formidable 'pen

An offseason of signing JD to push Camargo to the bench, bringing Markakis back, and downgrading to Mac at catcher would qualify as pretty disappointing

The grade would be a D+ or C-

There has to be a significant trade primed and ready to go based on other major FA signings going down around the league. The homer in me refuses to believe this is “the plan”.

I just refuse to believe that we don't have something in the works to bring in a 3+ win outfielder through trade. AA is a smart GM and it would be incredibly stupid to blow your load on JD while leaving cOF AND catcher without an impact player. I'm gonna stick to my prediction after we made the JD signing: We trade for a corner outfielder that is relatively cheap as our impact move and we make 1 or 2 small value oriented signings to bolster offensive depth and the bullpen.

Did Freddie Freeman ever think Bryce Harper to Atlanta was realistic? “No.”

He’s previously told Harper how he feels about Atlanta, but “I’ve never tried to get Bryce here.”

I just can’t see Machado or Harper, though the Manny stuff is a bit interesting. In regards to Machado, as talented as he is, I still don’t want him because I have a feeling he and Snitker would clash because of Manny’s attitude. I still get this feeling Pollock is going to be a Brave.

I have said all offseason give me Harper and Kimbrel and let's go to work. I get Donaldson but we didn't have a need at third. Riley is probably going to end up the next Jermaine Dye. I personally can't stand Harper but this is once in a lifetime opportunity like Maddux and Bonds were in 1993. Harper has 5-10 yrs left easy and would put us in the WS conversation easy.

I mean JD starting and Camargo to the bench does upgrade the roster but i agree i have a hard time thinking thats all we do this winter.

They'd be better but not sure how much. Need JTR or a top end outfielder not named Harper (Pollock, Peralta, etc)

The Braves never had that kind of money available.

Don’t need a spreadsheet to understand that.
