Isn't Zobrist owed around $12M? We probably can't even sign Marwin with these "lots of dollars" we have left. :Bowman:

based on these contracts marwin will prob get around $8M per. just my guess.
think he'd fit real nice as another guy with versatility and would add nice depth.

I’m sure we were in on Pollock but with LA going 5 years that was probably the breaking point for AA. I just pray we are after JTR still

I just don't see the Pederson fit with Markakis on board. Give the Dodgers prospects to help them get JTR? Why even bother giving Markakis $6M?

Passing up real position player upgrades to add another 2 win pitcher when they already have a half dozen young guys who could produce 2 wins? Why?

It seems clear now that "The Plan" was to minimize risk this off season with 1 year deals while putting the best team possible on the field. Prospects would only have been traded in the case of an extreme value add.

Looks like AA wants 1 more season to see what the young pitchers become.

I'd love to have traded for Joc before we brought Muk back but who is Pederson supposed to platoon with now Acuña?!?

And Markakis wasn't signed until AA knew they couldn't get Pollock cheap enough. The most likely landing spot for Pollock was LA, so AA must have known that would make Pederson expendable...and he still signed Markakis.

It doesn't make sense at all to sign a guy (Markakis) knowing a better version of him (Pederson) is likely to be available in trade, and then still go ahead with the trade anyways and get both guys.

So his value is increasing as potential suitors drop out? Will his value go up if he plays another half/whole season? Unless he has a monster first half, which is unlikely since no team will let him beat them, he will lose yet another half season of control.

And it should be clear that the fish aren’t going to get what they are asking. I can only assume that jeter thinks now that all the FA catchers have signed the dodgers and braves will battle it out for the only guy standing. However, both teams know neither team has to have him. So they can just wait jeter out and laugh at him when one of them steal JTR away.

You honestly believe he won't be traded before camp opens? Bet you're in a very small minority.

The return isn't going to be what they hoped for in the beginning, but they're not dumb enough to hold him through the first half. If they do, then they will have botched it - not until then. There's no rule that said he had to be moved before today or he wouldn't be moved.

With the Pollock signing, they may now be able to get Verdugo plus.
