Man, I really like the idea of adding marwin and gio. I absolutely love it if we could then flip camargo+ for realmuto.

Marwin just doesn’t do it for me, but it’s fine if it’s a very short, cheap contract.

Gio’s decline is pretty steady but he might have a couple more good ones left in him.

I guess we're at the point where Realmuto's price is the lowest it will get now that we've got another team in the mix. Now that we have the floor it's up to AA to decide if he wants to give up Anderson+ and get this cow in the barn

It's okay, AA will direct Bowman/DoB to tell everyone how many flaws JTR has and how he is not worth it when he is a Dodger/Padre

Sure, yes—but it wasn’t that long ago that the Braves targeted Jace Peterson and Mallex Smith (along with Fried) in the Justin Upton trade. The Smith issue was remedied somewhat when he was flipped for Gohara, but grabbing a couple more distant young players instead of low-ceiling but “advanced” Peterson would’ve been nice, given the Braves’ competitive window.

Mallex and Fried for 1 year of Upton wasn't a bad trade, imo. Sure we could have identified a higher ceiling position player, but all things considered, I think we came out well.

Preller is really bad at his job for someone that gets praised.

I can understand the Yanks allowing the Reds to offer an extension to Gray before a trade. Gray was a guy that was on the verge of being DFA in my opinion. But why would the Marlins give JTR the right to negotiate. It seems to me the Marlins have essentially given JTR the right to veto a trade to the Padres. Would the Padres extending JTR increase or decrease the return in a trade?

On the flip side. Only Peller is dumb enough to make buying out the decline years of a player a condition of a trade.

I don’t think JTR is gonna sign an extension like what is being talked about. The Pads aren’t very good even though they have a really good farm system. I don’t see it happening with him only being 2 years away from FA.

So The master plan is to let the riskiest assets in the game stew for one more year. ****ing brilliant

We have all these pitchers who will make scrap starts and some innings in the pen.... Throw some games in AAA. And we will be back here next year. Then we will get more promises about increasing payroll and how we are in on trades just to see low risk bull**** moves to appease the fans with promise of prospects gaining value again. More scared talk of value and how he didn’t want to just give guys away. All the while we piss away control of guys that can help us win.

Not sure the FA market is what it once was for players at positions of early decline

I’m with you. When AA does wanna make a move to push us into contention FF will be another year closer to FA and so will the young guys.
