But I don't believe there are many managers, even analytical ones, that removes their ace in the 6th inning of a 1-0 game if they haven't thrown over 90 pitches (aside from injury obviously). So yes, I think it absolutely means something. Even the Dodgers routinely let Kershaw go 6 innings or more in 21 of his 27 starts.

Being too analytically driven can you cost you games like this. Gabe Kapler is living proof of this and we saw it first hand at the start of the season.

Kershaw and the other top 5% of SPs...yes. Everyone else? It's not a hard decision.

But by all means, keep bringing up the rare cases as proof haha.

Not true! I was the one that pointed out how dumb you were for suggesting Kevin Gausman's 2.7 BB/9 rate was somehow bad. That was my crowning achievement.

But other than that, you're probably right... good thing I'm an irreverent asshole!

If the Phils are offering Sixto plus Alfaro plus another lower level guy as has been rumored, a Riley plus Anderson package would be required to compete with that.

That's an awful lot to give up for JTR, and I wouldn't fault AA if he decided against it.

Phillies are in the lead in Realmuto derby. Sixto and Alfaro are agreed upon but working on the rest. Marlins seek Bohm, Haseley, Moniak or Medina. Phillies want to limit the number going south. @jonmorosi and @Joelsherman1 r on top of it

Yeah if they want to pay that much then we’re just out of luck. Don’t blame AA for not topping it, but definitely hurts our chances this year

Yeah, Atlanta is likely behind the Nats, Mets and Phillies at this point. We're good, but the division has gotten so much better. I understand what AA is doing but he's likely wasting a year.
