Would you trade Newcomb for Simmons right now?

Who wouldn't? Simba is the Ozzie Smith of our times and his bat has finally come around the past couple of years. He's super cheap.

The real question is if Swanson continues to struggle offensively would you move him and some lesser pitching for Simba at the deadline if the Angels are out of it?

Yup.

Swanson's days of struggling went out the window with his faulty wrist parts. .750 ops or bust this season

Debt reduced by $132M from 626M in Sep 2017 to 494M at the end of 2018. That makes me optimistic that once they get debt down to a level they are comfortable with, we can see some larger increases in payroll.

They also said that they are building Phase 2 of the Battery which will cost an extra $200M

Yet the article ended with this gem "However, the company indicated the Braves will take on more debt to fund the next phase of construction at The Battery."

i imagine the plan for paying that down is related to the revenue flow from that new construction...but yeah they could cannibalize the team to do that...don't think that would be wise

What does everyone think about Evan Gattis as a cheap bench piece. He can DH in the AL games. He could catch if needed. He's played 1st and LF, although badly. He's a power RH off the bench. If you could get him 1 yr/$1M, I think it's worth a look.

I love Gattis, but Duvall can actually play a position and gives you a decent RHH bat.
