So far at least, none of the international guys the Braves lost as punishment appear to be anything.

I feel two ways about that: relief from a what might have been POV and alarm that the scouts could whiff that badly on that many and had to cheat (getting caught) to do it.

yeah, it seems tho most scouts missed on most of those guys. it's kind of wild that all of the duds in that class ended up being guys the Braves signed tho.

How sad is it that the scandal and the resulting punishments could end up being the best thing to happen to the Braves since the TBS era.

idk about that, i mean getting out of those contracts is nice but you're still hampered in the INTL FA market. and the drafting has been good for years now, so i think that's better than the scandal. i see your point tho.

A number are in the top 30s of their current franchise (del Rosario, Severino, Maitan, Soto), but you're right in what looked to be a real haul by the Braves isn't materializing elsewhere. Of course, these guys are all still young, so things could change for them. What I've read on Maitan is that he matured early and is now putting on significant weight. Limits him to positions where he will absolutely have to hit to have value.

The Braves didn’t get out of anything.

They could have fired Coppy without being forced to punt the international draft for four years.

Obviously that would've been a better outcome, but would the franchise have gotten rid of the rest of the problem aka the Johns without the severe penalties? Coppy trying to run the team like Ole Miss football was bad enough, but the root problem was the dinosaurs above him in the org chart.

kiley or eric on of the chats said he spoke to someone in an org who said "he's not a prospect." also said this in their blurb:

"We have Maitan here on pedigree, as pro socuts outside the org who had no context for their eval barely considered him a prospect last year."

I saw that. Pretty sad.

Wait....

The schedule allows the Braves to carry an extra hitter for a bit, and folks are happy that hitter is Alex Jackson?
