Fire Fredi......Hire Donnie Baseball

His days with the Dodgers are over and have no clue why. They made the NLCS after starting out dreadful.

He's an outsider (which we need) and can manage.

Any job interview from now on should start with this question "Your seasons on the line, 1 run game bottom of the 8th inning. Do you bring in the guy who gave up 2 runs to the team you are facing 2 days ago who was on the scrap heap prior to this season or do you bring in the best closer in the game who hasnt pitched in 2 days and has an off day tommorrow". Any answer but Kimbrel and they dont get the job. If they say Smoltz then they get a cookie but not the job.

I see where they have to pay Mattingly 1.4 mill for next year, even tho they didn't extend his contract this offseason. He got vested for winning the NLDS.

So they might not fire him, and the move to can his bench coach could be a way of getting him to quit, saving the 1.4 mill.

Fredi was the only reason Donnie Baseball wasn't, by a considerable margin, the worst manager in the playoffs.

Well...I guess Dusty Baker is worse than both, but I'm not counting him since the Reds lost in the WC play-in game.

Mattingly basically inherited the Dodgers job from his association with Joe Torre. He never really paid his dues in managing, the way that Ryne Sandberg did.

Fredi and Mattingly are similar managers. Great in the clubhouse and bad on the field. Mattingly is worse than Fredi on the field based on what I've seen. He makes terrible decisions.

So let me get this straight, the same people that are upset with Fredi for not using Kimbrel with the game on the line want the manager that refused to put his best reliever in the closers role for most of the year because League had more experience?

Most of us don't want Mattingly.

I would take Leyland!

I swear some of the people on this board are only happy when they have something to complain about.

And it is a good thing for some of the people on this board who are only happy when they have complaining to complain about.

Why are we even bothering with stupid threads like this. The Braves aren't going to fire Fredi, so these are pretty pointless.

IMO, we didn't lose in the playoffs because Fredi pitched Carpenter, who has been nails all year with an ERA under 2.00. We lost because our team ERA was nearly 6.00.

How that translates to firing Fredi (and hiring Roger McDowell, Don Mattingly or anyone else) is beyond me. We lost because only Minor (and maybe Garcia) pitched well.

Not true, Kasten announced he was coming back. You took 2 +2 and got 6.

Asked for an extension and didn't get it. For all we know the same thing may have happened with Fredi, and he was smart enough to keep his mouth shut.
