in addition, it is not in dispute that:

1) The campaign encouraged the Russians in their activity. Trump did this a number of times in broad daylight.
2) At the same time, Trump's business representatives were negotiating a lucrative real estate deal with Moscow. The term I have used is quid pro quo.

And we see that Trump directed people in his campaign to find the Clinton emails. Flynn testifies as to this request. Flynn in turn asked Peter W Smith to carry out this task. Which Smith did. It was a matter of indifference for Smith as to who was the ultimate source of this information.
 
Just to make sure that those who wish to do so can connect the dots:

1) Trump on multiple occasions directs people in his campaign to find Clinton emails
2) Flynn contacts Smith and others and asks them to find the Clinton emails
3) Smith casts a wide net seeking out who on the dark web can provide him with the emails
4) Smith raises several hundred thousand dollars to pay for this
