Around The Majors 2019

It could be argued the Braves have the 4 best players under-25 in the National League. Acuna-Albies-Soroka-Fried. And Riley appears to be a player.

I could see an argument for Tatis, Jr. when he's healthy.

Who am I forgetting? Would you take Soto or Robles over any of our big 4?

yes

Acuna for sure. May be Albies.

Cody Bellinger, Walker Buehler, and German Marquez have established more than Fried and Soroka.

We have the best nucleus of young players and prospects. But not all the best ones.

We also have Acuna and Albies on ridiculous contracts.

It does add up to a long window.

Still want AA to be obsessively focused on getting value in every move.

Don't trade prospects just cuz we have so many good ones.

Would you guys trade Folty right now? The Padres are looking for a front line starter and I would love to get my hands on Mackenzie Gore.

If someone wants to pay like he is a frontline starter I would do it. His service time is running out and it could really extend our competitive window.

If you wanted to trade Folty, it should have been done last winter when he had 3 years of control left coming off an all star year.

His start on Sunday was promising.

The Rays have showed how to trade SPs, and it isn't done with 3 years of control remaining.

What is Duvall's value now? He has 2.75 years of control. Decent starting OF. Could we get Reyes Moronta?

San Fran's OF is so bad and the team is so bad. Duvall seems like an upgrade and the Pen isn't a big priority for rebuilding teams.

RHP Carter Stewart, who attended Eastern Florida State College after failing to sign with the #Braves as the No. 8 overall pick in last year’s draft, is in agreement on a contract with the Fukuoka SoftBank Hawks of the Japanese Pacific League, sources tell The Athletic.

oh...ok.

When San Fran starts selling pieces, I doubt they'd want a 30-year-old OF in return. They know they aren't competing now or for the foreseeable future, so I'm sure they just want prospects.

Wow. I guess his draft stock fell so far he realized he could make more money in Japan than battling through the minors with no signing bonus. He clearly turned millions down and is now looking more and more dumb.

Duvall is a bit different. They could roll dice on him rebuilding value in the bigs and still flip his team control for a better prospect than a rental pen guy would. Now I don’t think Duvall is enough. But he could sweeten a deal. If Duvall has a good second half in the bigs his 2 years of control could pull a good prospect

And the Phils take the lead again, 2-1. They just won't lose. And it feels like whoever they play, good or bad, decides to play their worst. Sigh.
