Affordable Care Act

I guarantee Obama and his cronies are going to go after the hospitals and doctors that are opting out and

A) make them look like they don't care about 'poor people'

B) somehow make the said doctors and hospitals take the insurance they refuse to take.

21 million people visited the site day one allegedly and 6 people signed up. So funny.

The good news about this whole thing - is this is the most public government failure in US history probably. Sad thing is, they are just as incompetent at just about everything else - but it doesn't get this much attention

Where I sit the lack of response to Katrina would be a larger government failure than say a web site that doesn't work for people that have no intention of using said web site. But hey, that's just me .

Surprised no one is talking about breast pumps or feminine birth control!! Afterall, that was topic de jour yesterday on talk radio.
Oh right -- no one here listens to talk radio --- my bad

from NYT:

The so-called cancellation letters waved around at yesterday’s hearing were simply notices that policies would have to be upgraded or changed. Some of those old policies were so full of holes that they didn’t include hospitalization, or maternity care, or coverage of other serious conditions.

Republicans were apparently furious that government would dare intrude on an insurance company’s freedom to offer a terrible product to desperate people.

“Some people like to drive a Ford, not a Ferrari,” said Marsha Blackburn of Tennessee. “And some people like to drink out of a red Solo cup, not a crystal stem. You’re taking away their choice.”

Luckily, a comprehensive and affordable insurance policy is no longer a Ferrari; it is now a basic right. In the face of absurd comments and analogies like this one, Ms. Sebelius never lost her cool in three-and-a-half hours of testimony, perhaps because she knows that once the computer problems and the bellowing die down, the country will be far better off.

from Hartford Courant :

They are trash policies that would have left policy-holders paying thousands out of their own pockets at time of claims. Non-guaranteed renewable, limited in benefit coverage, no preventive care, and most have absolutely no drug coverage. The maximum limit of coverage, which is a lifetime maximum, and is soon reached in this day and age.

The insurance companies issuing these policies knew they had three years to comply with the mandates of the Affordable Care Act, and they decided this was the way to get rid of that line of business, and rack up more premiums on better plans. The small percentage of people whose policies are being canceled should really thank God that it is forcing them to re-look at what they have in the way of health care. Most don't even know they had inferior policies they were paying for.

Let's bring this country of under-insureds up to normal and reasonable limits for the 21st century

heard a report on All In the other night that 94% of government IT projects over $10M fail. That left the host with his jaw hanging open. The guest thought this a prime opportunity to address government contracting practices. Or, we could investigate Benghazi again ... (I added the snark-not the host or guest)

I think Katrina and Obamacare's implementation are pretty good comparisons actually. Both have good intentions but both failed miserably in the get go (I'd argue they never really fixed Katrina's issues but that's just my opinion).

I really don't care about covering breast pumps or birth control, it should be up to the individual insurance plan a person has. I think it's foolish not to have some birth control coverage given I'm not ready for kids any time soon.

I don't care what another person does unless it effects me in some way. This tax payer failed website is one that does impact me. Obamacare impacts me. Katrina's failure impacted me on a moral level and so I donated to the cause.

Again, just because I disagree with the president doesn't mean I have to listen to talk radio or I don't have a point here or there.

I'm just mostly amazed at the denial and deflection of how poor this whole thing is gone. I voted for Obama in 2008, he's not lived up to his promises in that campaign by a long shot, perhaps that's why I'm so critical of him.

Katrina - there over 1000 dead due to government lack. That lack is not just the response to the emergency but the maintenance of the levees and funding to maintain a healthy delta eco-system. Could we call it preventive maintenance or foresight??
Is there a bodycount accompanying the roll out of tha ACA website? or like I said just a talking point for people that invested in seeing the program (POTUS) fail

Yeah, I too voted for BO in 2008 - and I agree, in frustration, there is a lot he promised that didnt get through. But, there is a lot he promised that did get through.
What alternatives did we have to Obama? Santorum? Romney? Kucinich (my choice)? An old guy that picked Sarah Palin? Ron Paul? Rick Perry? Newt? Rudy? how' the man say "carry on Governor"

I think the question I have is why do you hate Obama and why are you a racist?

actually the question is why did you cherry pick the statement --- leaving out the last sentence?
Kinda like starting the alphabet at G and ending it at Q.

That is a Brietbart trick -- but, I know no one here reads Brietbart or listens to Erickson ---

Face the fact --
ACA is here to stay until common sense prevails and it morphs into Medicare for All --- a single payer socialist Western European Health Care System.
Like they have in France
so opponents would be wise to learn about it. What it does and doesn't. how they can use it to make their lives better.
Like they have in France

Kinda like last year at this time you were told Obama would win and Romney had not a prayer. But, "Drudge says....."
man that was fun

Don't think anything can take the cake for Iraq in recent history.

What a huge blunder. From the worldwide stage of convincing everyone it was a must to invade, to mission accomplished, to 7 extra years of fighting for really what reason?

This thing has not even been out a month, so there's plenty of time to correct it because it hasn't even been fully implemented yet. To say it is the biggest failure ever is just you being biased against any type of social program.

Spot on, I don't think Obamination can touch this. Is Obama a failure, oh hell yes he is, all those false promises to get a vote. I don't like con artists because have a lot in my family and they are all in Chicago. They say it is the Chicago way, the most corrupt city in America. But Bush...errrr Cheney is way worse than Obama and he dragged Dumbya in his influence. The last 13 years has been the worst in politics since the Nixon years. Carter was a terrible president, but I can't fault his pacifist ways, too naive and not understanding the big picture. Imagine the corruption we have now in government if Carter was in charge?

We would have China and Russian troops on our soil.

Oh Sav, there is no way they can correct something that was a political ploy, ala Cheneyistic way to ramrod the country into a government type program which they have all control. It's not good and our country was not brought up for them to control something this massive.
