Affordable Care Act

As a cynic who hates both sides, I think constantly attacking the website problems is a little petty and low - even for republicans.
The actual law itself has questions that can and should be raised. There are bigger problems (potentially) than the website.

It's illustrative. Nicely so.

my insurance didnt go up 41%. I know better than to let that happen
my auto insurance went up - homeowners stayed steady .
But the auto went up approx 2.5%. 41% means you had something that wasnt worth the paper it was written on to begin with

To answer Sturg's question -- yes I am in support of ACA because it address' the problem. And long term / big picture ( that is a novel idea on a baseball message board!!) this is a great improvement over what was there circa 2009

Once more --
I am in favor of a single payer Western European style health care.

Steve Forbes has long been a proponent of making health care available to all citizens - right after he walked the picket lines demanding the 40 hour work week and the expansion of OSHA

still weird to hear this when we are talking about the health of people

but whatever

Majority of people are plenty capable of preparing for a situation where they need to pay for health care. Its not businesses fault people make stupid decisions in their lives

i am not talking about fat people etc when i say that

i am talking about the people we just die because they don't have money to fight cancer and the other countless things that even when people have insurance from these evil companies

they can't get help

Didn't you say your HC went up 79% ??

Perhaps you'd be better served taking your eyes out of your palm and applying them to you insurance policies

79% Sturg? Wanna buy a used car or maybe some unseen Florida property???

Just so I'm clear - you're implying my rate increase is MY fault... not a result of the new "affordable" law?

I don't know if the companies are evil. They are playing with a rigged system to a certain extent, but I agree with the basic point here.

There are going to be a lot of changes down the road to this law. I don't think there is any question about it. But the health care and health care insurance industries in this country are an absolute mess and we treat health care as a commodity in this country and we're the only country in the western world that seems to work that way. The transition to the new law has been messy--extremely messy--but it has been the first move toward a substantive discussion that has needed to take place in this country for a long, long time.

As much as (by your logic) a food stamp or welfare recipient is responsible for their lot in life. Like I said, my family HC and home insurance has seen no increase but my auto did.
Difference between you and me? I understand why -

So yeah, it is your fault -- if lack of curiosity of how societal changes will affect you can be called a fault. I just think it immature and expecting the system to take care of you
