Around The Majors 2019

The thing is Yates has been better than Hand plus we'd have Yates for another season.

He doesn't have an extra year of control. He has 1 year remaining of control. Hand has 1 year guaranteed and an option for 2020.

And even if Yates did have more control, an extra year of control for what would be a 34 year old journeyman reliever really isn't that valuable.

aw man we need to go back your posts on the two from last year. for good fun's sake.

Hats off to acuna for really improving his defense... there's your whole difference. Soto is just as good offensively

ETA... should've said with the bat. Acuna is far superior on bases

i mean yeah but the point was always Acuña projected to be a much better all-around player even if his bat initially lagged behind. he quickly closed that gap. those posts were gold.

Pretty sure the consensus since both guys broke onto the scene was that Soto would be a better offensive performer, but Acuna would be the more valuable player overall. That is largely holding true in the early portions of their careers...so far. I will never again put some sort of limit on Acuna's future though, so he may very well be better than Soto in every measurable way as soon as next week.

Acuna is going well right now, and Soto is struggling, so Braves fans are obviously going to use this opportunity to show how great Acuna is compared to Soto. We didn't see any such comparisons around here a few weeks ago when Acuna was struggling and Soto was tearing things up, and we won't see any such comps the next time Acuna goes through a rough stretch.

Look pretty equal to me

Yeah but he’s like 20 years older. But in all seriousness after his slow start I didn’t realize he turned it up so much in the past several weeks

Trade value experts, what do you think of clv's idea of camargo for a closer? How much value does camargo and how does that stack up with the closers likely to be available?

I think he is more valuable to our team than he is on the market. A competing team shouldn’t trade viable depth away for anything. Use the resources that are more disposable.

Agreed on all counts. We are more likely to trade away guys who not yet at the major league level.

But how valuable is he to us right now? He's at -0.3 fWAR, and someone is gonna have to go to get ender back on the 25. Culberson can play all positions camargo can. Seems like camargo will be in AAA soon
