Magic Number Thread

We certainly do- but with our payroll limitations we’ve had to be very careful during the rebuild.
Getting away from Shanks was a big deal and we made the right acquisitions- just have to be careful bringing them along...

We do. But we also have some posters I hope will not try to start a post-season GDT. They know who they are. This is where a little veteran laidership might help.

Also don't forget to keep an eye on home field advantage over the Cardinals. Looks like a lock at this point, we're up 8 in the loss column. They just lost two to the Rockies.

That's why they are a great front office. Tank a few to avoid the Nats. Genius. We need to beat them at this game.

We just took 3 of 4 from the Nats and beat 2 of their aces. They also have the worst BP in baseball. And no guarantee the Nats even make it out of the 1 game playoff.

I'll gladly take the WC team and the Home field throughout the NL playoff. The Cards are exactly the sort of team we're likely to struggle with in the playoffs since their strength is in their pitching, particularly their BP.

Nats and Phillies have a 5 game set the next to last series of the season. Just looking over what is remaining after the current series are over, it's possible the Mets have a chance to secure a WC spot.

Mets-Dodgers, Rockies, Reds, Marlins, Braves

Nats-Braves, Cards, Marlins, Phillies, Indians

Phillies-Red Sox, Braves, Indians, Nats, Marlins

It's going to be an interesting 2+ weeks.

Not to mention the Cubs will be without Baez and the Brewers without Yelich.

We also barely won the games we did and had a ton of extreme luck. Don’t fool yourself that we are tons better than the Nats because we aren’t. I think we are better than them but they are easily the scariest team not named the Dodgers

We had some bad luck too, though we did benefit from some BABIP.

Regardless, we've done well vs them practically all season and they have the worst pen in baseball. I think people are selling the Cards short. Their overall pitching is strong, even if they don't sport a 3 headed monster in the rotation. Considering a lot of our best work comes in the later innings, that proposes a problem.
