The Trump Presidency

I have a theory that Obama is why we have Trump. For 8 years you had rural conservatives essentially be told they were backward, evil, and on the wrong side of history. They got largely left out of the economic recovery. Instead of feeling represented, they felt the government was actively working against them.

Enter Trump the demagouge. Like and demagouge, he needs a group of marginalized people to form his core support. He steps in, tells these people they're not evil, they're not backward, and that they matter and these people flock to his banner.

This is an object lesson in why we need presidents who strive to represent every American and try to make every American's life better. The more people feel marginalized (whether legitimately or not) the better the climate for demagouges.

I have said this many times before and I still believe that we got Trump because of the media colluding against Ron Paul in 2012. The media only covered him to tell you he was a waste of a vote even when he was leading in the polls and the Republican Party took drastic measures to sabotage him and he still got a significant amount of the primary vote. He would have crushed Obama in the national election on the bank bailout issues and conservatives voters would be behind him like they are with Trump now. He is a war veteran, strong christian, best record in terms of smaller government, and strong defender of the second amendment. Lets not forget that Republicans couldnt block Trump from becoming the nominee largely because of the Ron Paul rule which was designed to prevent an insurrection at the GOP convention in favor of Paul.

Seems like this would be relevant to an already closed investigation.

Pompeo: Were you aware that our folks were either wittingly or unwittingly meeting with al-Qaida on the ground in Benghazi, Libya, just hours before the attack?

Clinton: I know nothing about this, Congressman.

Pompeo: I think that's deeply disturbing.

I partially agree. But who was telling rural conservatives they were backward? It wasn't Obama and it wasn't the media. Perhaps it was their own conscience.

One of Obama's favorite phrases was "the wrong side of history". Essentially, anyone who who didn't espouse progressive beliefs was labeled by Obama or the left as on the wrong side of history. It's that kind of stuff that helped ripen the fields for Trump.

While there have always been people willing to follow a demagouge like Trump, 8 years of normal, hardworking Americans being patronized by the left drove people to support Trump who would ordinarily find him repugnant. All he had to do was tell them they're right and shouldn't feel bad about believing the way they do.

At the end of the day Obama was right we are at a point in history where there is going to be a change in culture. It is going to be multicultural, less money-driven, less religious society (unless the denominations completely seperate themselves from politics)

You're assuming society continues on it's track with no great interruptions. We're one disaster away from the state of nature at all times.

I mean, the wrong side of history stuff correct me if I'm wrong was about social issues like DADT and gay marriage.

Red states (and some purple states) were banning SSM in the 2000s before he was President.
