gdt 10.3.19: time to defrock these molestering cardinals and their enabler holbrook

Martin getting hurt contributed of course.
leaving MM in to face a lefty, only to move to the LHP that same inning? outrageously stupid.

The Martin thing lost the game because Snit was unprepared to manage the bullpen without him.

Think about this... say the Braves have a miracle comeback in the 9th and tie the game and we are still out our best LHP who could throw multiple innings because Snit burned him on a relief pitcher.

Jackson was the right move. Gotta go with the righty vs their best RH hitters.

I do think he made a mistake keeping Melancon out there, so I can see the complaint there.

Cards manager made some big mistakes too, but got away with them.

Bottom line is that if Melancon is going to suck this series then we are in trouble.

Oh boy... knew this was coming.

“””””Freeman on Acuña not running out of box: “It is frustrating.... That can’t happen in the postseason. It can’t happen in the regular season.... Unfortunately tonight it did.” ”””””””

What's that got to do with my statement?

Markakis wasn't that great, but the bigger problems were Martin's injury, Melancon's struggles, and Acuna again not running out of the box

if they realized how much he sucked, he wouldn’t be batting 5th and placed in RF in crunch time.
Acuña was 100x the player Markakis was today.

And he is exactly right.

Yeah, I'm trying to think, is there a worse overall corner outfielder in baseball? Markakis has to be both bottom three offensively and bottom five defensively, right? Does anyone else approach his level of incompetence among starters?

WAR dont lie

I don't think Snitker did that bad. The Martin thing really screwed things up and then his closer goes out and sucks it up.

Should have been more urgency to have Tomlin-Newk warming up while Jackson was out there considering Jackson's poor last few months.

Jackson should not have been allowed to face Wong.

It's debatable on if Newk should of been brought in aagainst Carpenter. But when Wong came up in the 9th, Melancon was already at 23-25 pitches. Newk was warm and ready to go (or should have been). Instead a gassed MM gives up a double to Wong.

The guy who was on base 4 times today and made great defensive plays has turned into the goat because his brain turned off for 3 seconds.

Makes sense.

Snitker is correct. Hopefully someone chewed out Acuna tonight

MM facing Wong is mind boggling.

I think all this is avoided if Jackson doesn’t make the roster over Teheran...At a minimum he comes in for a couple after Dallas’ early exit.

They should sell tourist packages to Atlanta where one of the experiences is beating the braves in the playoffs

Love how they are focusing on Acuna not running out a double, but they won't dare say how their manager botched his bullpen usage big time in the last two innings.

exactly.
one is a brain queef for 3 seconds.
the other is permanent incompetence.
guess which costs the team more often and more severely?

Again, I don't think it really matters because Acuña obviously isn't a guy who learns from his mistakes nor does he respond to correction. He doesn't think anyone can tell him how to play and, at this point, I doubt he ever changes. If you want his talent in the lineup, you have to accept his childish antics even if it costs you some wins.

Never post here but why was Dallas pulled so early? It’s not a pen game like this if the ace you acquired is allowed to cut it loose and go. That’s not a move I see a 40 year vet in the org making. This thing stunk to high heaven from the 5th on.

It was a move that you see advanced analytics teams do, and we became one of those teams once AA came in. The old guard is out but the same ole Braves are still here.
