GDT- 10/04/19: NLDS Game Two: St. Louis Cardinals @ Atlanta Braves

In defense of Snit

1) Duvall had a really good AB last night against a hard throwing righty. I know small sample. And the alternatives are Hech and Ortega.

2) Melancon's cutter is a very good pitch against lefty hitters.

3) From his closer days Melancon knows how to handle back to back games with relatively high pitch counts. If he didnt think he could go today he would have told Snit.

Fried gives us so much flexibility. I kinda like the idea of Teheran starting game 4 and STL loading up with LHH, then PH for Teheran in the third and bring in Fried for several innings. At any rate, we have to go into all these games with a Plan A - Z, and the flexible roster is a big help with that.

Huh? The Cards don’t load up with platoon advantages. Have you been watching the last 2 games?

I expect to see Teheran start game 4 if the Braves win game 3 so DK gets game 5 on extra rest. Fried is likely the BP stud the rest of the series

If it gets to Game 5, its Folty's game.

I think Folty gets a game 5 on regular rest.

Top 5 all-time doesn't give them enough credit. The real oldest team in baseball. Completely dominated the 1870s with 7 titles, to the point that it was a contributing factor in the demise of the NAPBBP. Completely dominated the 1890s, with 5 titles. Completely dominated the 1990s. Had a couple of other championships inbetween dominant stretches.

For me personally, I rank them 3rd behind the Dodgers and Cards and in front of Cubs and Giants.

Duvall bitting a HR off a RHP is pretty close.

It went well over 400 feet so not a cheap shot.

Snit is over managing with Mel as the closer, but he got the job done but I know YOU and others were biting your nails when two were on. I admit I was.

Fried is a freaking monster. He can be an elite pitcher when he learns how to pitch like Glavine/Avery. His stuff is way better, but he has to understand.

Dad just told me the Cards love going after the curve balls and how we loss yesterday but you see the pitch (high fast ball to strike him out) to that douchebag Molina, he said we should do that more often.

Enjoy the rest of the series guys! Look forward to checking in during the offseason.

And Cards dont platoon, only thing i can see is Carpenter plays for Wong or Edman, thats about it.

Molina, Goldy, Dejong, Edman/Wong, and their outfield will play regardless of SP.

Yeah you guys are probably right.

Perhaps they start DK in game 4 on short rest and then bring in Julio for Goldy’s 2nd PA.

Or maybe try Max for 2-3, DK for 2-3, Julio for 1, Greene for 1, MM for 1.

Do we bring back Taylor on short rest to start another GDT. This was a big win for him. Disappointed no props have been given to the roomie.

Nobody is giving me credit for giving Taylor his redemption opportunity while Snit gets all the credit for giving Melancon a chance to get back.
