GDT- 10/04/19: NLDS Game Two: St. Louis Cardinals @ Atlanta Braves

Yah that's a head scratcher. Maddux, Smoltz, and Glavine all agree that Avery had the best stuff on the staff. Man what could have been if he could've stayed healthy.

Yeah, this is stating the obvious, but I do think even with health he would have stayed behind Maddux in his career... but he was better than Glav and Smoltzie.

Folty stepped up bigly tonight. This game should put some lead in his pencil for a long time.

I’m heading to St. Louis.

I would and then visit my parents before working in Minnesota.

No freaking tickets and the asking price of ones are scalpers. Not going to be buying them.

I grew up at Busch stadium and even though my dad hated the Cardinals he wanted us to see a game. He was a Cub farm hand.

DIE HARD.

But I got a few falls from Busch and Comiskey park. I been to a few stadiums. One jerk and I was a snotty nose kid but push me out of the way for a ball. My dad wanted to go after him and the others stopped him and he did. I got like four balls from home runs from Busch and Comiskey park.

I went to so many games as a youngster in the 70's. Can't afford it now. We could go for 25 dollars for 3 people with a drink and hot dogs, now it is like $400 dollars. Screw that. My dad actually allowed me to give me and my brother those plastic helmet, me the Braves and he the Yankees.

Looks like the Cards are going to do a little shuffling. Carpenter to third. Erdman to right. Fowler to center. Bader to the bench.

Obviously weakens their OF defense. They no longer have a good lefty pinch hitter on the bench. But they get an extra lefty bat in against Soroka.

I don’t think Avery was ever as good as Glavine. I recall Bill James writing at the height of Averys success that he would not be able to sustain it due to his very low K rate.
