Braves sign Mart to 2 year deal

Damn our pen is just flat out loaded this year.

Will Smith
Mark Melancon
Shane Greene
Chris Martin
Luke Jackson

We have to have a significant amount more to spend than we thought right? I mean another $7 million AAV for another reliever?

They resigned O'Day, I think Jackson's days may be numbered.

O'Day
Webb/Jackson
Minter(please return to form)
Martin

I doubt Jackson's days are numbered. He's cheap and very very good. Greene is more likely to be gone.

Our pen should be stout. Considering how many teams need relief pitching, that's a huge advantage.

What will this pen look like if Minter regains his form or Touki puts it together?

Haaahahahaha.

None of us would have predicted this. AA is a smart guy and has a plan. I can't wait to understand it.

I don't think Newk will pitch an inning of relief this year.

AA has indicated several times Newk will be given an opportunity to win a spot in the rotation in spring training. Remains to be seen what he does with it.

feel like we like Martin more than Green and we trade Green.

This. Time to start looking at teams that would like to have a Closer/8th inning guy as part of a big trade.

Maybe Greene could be included as part of a package for Contreras or Haniger? Lord knows both those teams could use some pen help.

Well, I guess that makes up for AA thinking he had more years of control on Martin than he did.

Maybe we are pumping up the pen for playoff baseball.

Maybe we are cheating out in the rotation and they know they’ll need to soak up innings from Wright and Wilson.

This is crazy. In a good way though. 160 million payroll? We haven’t filled any real hole yet and have spent 23 million.
