Impeachment

We’re gonna need a bigger bus.

Yeah, he brought e-mails, texts, WhatsApp messages, every piece of evidence he could find that the entire administration knew and was involved, and complained that they wouldn't allow him access to his unclassified official State Dept docs and e-mails to gather more. Much like Rudy a while back, Sonsdland said "**** your bus, I ain't going down alone for you."

He just testified that the Ukranians didn't actually have to carry out the investigations, they only had to announce them. Because the announcement of fake investigations that will never be carried out is exactly what you demand when you want to fight corruption.

exactly...no serious investigation starts with the president of Ukraine naming the target...it is a fiction that chosen one was interested in getting to anything real as far corruption goes...he just wanted to smear a political opponent

Schiff tried to send it over the Nunes, Nunes shook his head no, Schiff called a five minute break, Schiff had a press conference, then Nunes said (paraphrased) "just so everyone at home knows, that was not a bathroom break, that was a chance for the Democrats to have a press conference." Now Nunes is totally, completely ignoring every single piece of actual evidence and testimony and only asking Sondland about Hunter Biden, the 2016 election, and why they aren't permitted to out the whistleblower. I.E. outrageous, debunked conspiracy theories with absolutely no basis in the real world and none of which have anything to do with Gordon Sondland.

Counsel: And you believed the President, right?

Sondland: You know, I'm not going to characterize whether I believed or didn't believe the President, I was just trying to convey what he had told me.

I chuckled at that.

Sondland: "Everyone's hair was on fire but no one talked to us."

I think this is a big part of what happened. Bolton thought it was a drug deal. But I suspect deep down he suspected the orchestrator of the drug deal was chosen one himself. So he asked an aide to report the drug deal to Eisenberg, with whom Bolton himself was not on speaking terms.

Deep down Eisenberg also probably had an idea of who was orchestrating the drug deal. Or maybe he didn't want to know. So the most convenient response was the old see no evil.

Sondland also admits he was involved, and says that both Volker and Morrison were involved and knew what was going on and who had ordered it. That's all three people I'm aware of who have complained that none of the complainants came to them. If you thought something was illegal and needed to be reported, would you really go to an active conspirator? Of course not.

Sondland also has Bolton well aware of what was going on, but never alleged he had any involvement in it. This dovetails with other testimonies about his anger at it and his Pontius hand-washing of the whole thing when Hill came to him, which would seem a likely explanation of WHY he was the one person who was briefed to whom someone went. He was Buck Weaver. He didn't participate, he hated it, but he knew.

this whole thing is chosen one's drug deal...and those opposed to it were reduced to passive aggressive acts of opposition...except for the whistleblower who decided to take chosen one on

The Republicans have played this so remarkably poorly that I wouldn't be shocked if some of them are secretly hoping Trump will get tossed out of office.

a lot of unskillful lawyering...but I doubt even the most skillful of lawyering would carry the day given the facts

This is real

I wonder if they realize that Trump and Republicans are making the case for why the next Democratic President can charge Trump for his federal crimes once he is out of office. They literally are saying the President has a constitutional duty to fight corruption. The more the defend Trump the more they are hanging him when he gets out of office.

I think the next president (presumably a Dem) is going to have to make some tough decisions in that regard. Maybe he or she will just turn it all over to career prosecutors and let them make the calls.
