Official Offseason Thread

As for your precious logic, exactly how much of that did the people that signed Cole, Strasburg, Rendon, and Wheeler exhibit while signing those deals?

It's kinda amazing how many "logical geniuses" that deal blackjack and post on internet message boards there are that never get phone calls when it's time to run MLB franchises, no???

Yikes. Take a breath.

Lol why don’t we worry about 2020 first before we put Freeman in an Angels uniform? Jesus.

I’m not the one who raised the spectre of Freeman’s departure—but it’s never too soon to talk long-term, given the forum’s seeming existential precarity.

I would have given Madison that contract. He doesn't show any reason to assume he wont age well. People are dwelling way too much on years lost on fluke injuries.

I dont think the actual money per is the big deal, it's 5 years. I would have done 3/50ish or so.

Sheesh! The board was down for like a week for me. Maybe longer. Glad it's back.

- Rendon to Angels
- MadBum to Diamondbacks
- Kluber traded to Rangers
- Japanese bat to the Rays
- Braves still don't have a cleanup hitter/Donaldson yet to sign
- Rangers new stadium caught on fire

Brewers just signed Avisail. Yankees in talks for Schwarber and Indians may trade Lindor.

Does that about cover it?

I actually like the thought of a Arenado + Dahl trade for Riley and low level parts.

Then move Inciarte for best available back.

Talk with the Yankees about Frazier.

You end up with an OF of Acuna, Dahl, Frazier, Duvall, Markakis with Pache and Waters in AAA, fill 3B hole for years and get your RH big bat clean up guy and move Inciarte and potentially Greene's money to help offset the Arenado add.

We know you would have given him that contract thethe.... but thankfully, AA is smarter than that and actually realizes he can't pitch outside of San Fran. He's going to be an absolute homer machine in Arizona, lol

You said this on the other site: What? I sign Bumgarner for that... ugh. What is AA doing? Should have been in on Kluber and/or Bumgarner.

We may have been on Kluber, we have no clue. Passan said Cleveland asked the Angels for 2 top 10 prospects. We couldn't have predicted that they would have rather gone with a random terrible package from Texas. Apparently they were way higher on the reliever they got back than any other club in the world. We can't control that Cleveland would have rather gone with a terrible deal over good deals. That being said, sounds like there is a bunch more to be concerned about regarding Kluber's health than initially thought. We didn't need to be anywhere near MadBum... declining velocity, increasing homer rates, can't pitch away from a cavernous park. 5 years to that would have been dumb.

Actually I have warmed to the potential of Arenado... but with his contract, opt out in a couple years, and no trade clause... think too much would have to fall into place. Pretty unrealistic to have all that work out.
