All I know is that Joc had a 138 WRC+ against righties over the last two years. Dude would be a fantastic fit in the lineup and perfectly fine as a corner outfielder.

Glad Braves weren't involved with the Dodgers. I would have hated a Wright for Wong trade.

I mean, C'mon. 2 Wongs don't make a Wright.

Bryant for a package centered around Riley and an arm still makes sense. Now that the OF is a bit crowded, Ender makes a good bit of sense as well.

So long as he’s healthy, I think Ozuna–Inciarte–Acuña is a much better regular OF against RHP than Ozuna–Acuña–Markakis. But, if the Cubs would prefer Riley+Inciarte to Riley+arm, the Braves might prefer the former package for both salary reasons and to free up said arm for another trade.

I forget what the cubs are trying to accomplish in trading Bryant.

They are a team with a closing window of contention that needs to turn 2 years of an expensive star into many years of cheap good players to avoid the need for a true rebuild.

Riley and an arm like Wright are precisely that.

The Cubs FO has shown almost zero ability to maintain a contender even in the medium term, so I can’t imagine they will navigate this tricky period of the contention cycle well.

They have the perfect cover to move him now thanks to the grievance. And his value may tank if he has another bad year defensively.
