Neverending **** the Police thread.

I've gotten a ticket only once and the cop bold face lied...twice. When he pulled me over he said I was going about 15 MPH higher than I was (I'd just pulled out onto that road). He then wrote the ticket and added an additional 10 MPH to bump the fine up to a higher amount. Oddly I've been pulled over other times when I deserved a ticket but was let off with warnings.

I generally find there are two types of police, those who are trying to do their job well and the power drunk jackasses who don't see it as wrong to abuse their power.
 
I would think police unions would be at the forefront.

Forgetting who in the Godfather said " wars are bad for business"

The worst businesses are the ones with the worst incentive structure.

Nothing has a worse incentive structure in my mind than teachers and police. Both are protected from unions and neither have an incentive to be good at their job.

Tear the unions down and start seeing progress and innovation in both spaces

Be interesting to see what people at the table say and do.

My guess?
Whatever happens will be the product of an ACA type compromise.

I did see on suggestion of tying liability insurance to police retirement funds, Forcing them to police themselves
Dont know how that would work and cant remember where I saw it
Sounds interesting though

I’m not educated enough to offer a solution, but directionally tying liability to pensions seems correct.

No chance in hell police unions allow that though, which gets back to sturg’s point.
 
Sorry Floyd family. The left has changed the narrative and we are gonna need a very powerful and strong armed police force to respond

I also dont think they have much choice

Not really. Few jobs give the direct power a badge gives. Not many waitresses or retail workers drunk on power.

As I posted earlier, there's an element of people attracted to being a police officer because they like power over others. Those people are dangerous.
 
I didnt mean it quite so literally.

We have all had waitress' that seat people by looks or ever been to Lowes and there is usually one employee that looks at you and treats like he knows and, you don't.

Or co workers.
I used to think in 25 people you will get 5 really great 15 alright and 5 that feel like the rules dont apply

Or baseball message boards for that matter
