The Coronavirus, not the beer

I'm not anti-mask, but I certainly don't think they are the magic cure that some do. I think social distancing is much more effective. I wear my mask in all indoor public places, and that thing itches me so bad. If I were less disciplined about not touching my face, I can see how it would be worse than no mask at all.

there is no magic cure...just come common sense things we shouldn't be spilling so much ink over

since you asked...nyet...let me know if you need a translation

they have had what by the standards of just about any state is a small outbreak

for big outbreak, see Mississippi, Florida, Arizona, Bama

see idaho if you want to see a small state that has had a really big outbreak

This.

No, it isn't. Seriously, one small community could be responsible that sort of spread. Like, how am I having to explain to someone that works in finance how percentages work?

You aren't having to explain it.

I'm glad to hear 700% increase off a small basis is of no concern. That is good news. I'm still confused how it could have happened with masks though

can I get another lecture on how exponential growth works?

Hawaii with no bordering countries/states has a huge advantage over any other state. Wasn't it you who were worried about other states bringing back to NY? Well, this is absolutely no concern for Hawaii.

Certainly Hawaii has an advantage other states don't. I would look for Hawaii cases to be much lower than most other states for this very reason. My issue is for the fact that they are politicizing a very small outbreak and acting like it's a sign that masks don't work.

first 2 days of August

Alaska 290 cases (Alaska has a smaller population than Hawaii, is very isolated, and has a very low population density)

Hawaii 131 cases

Idaho 623 cases (actually down from some very high numbers in late July, when they had several days over 500)

i'll leave it to the discerning reader to tell me which one of these states is NOT having a big outbreak

Belize new cases are up over 100% over the last month. What a HUGE breakout they are having with their 26 cases in the last 30 days!

If you can't understand how numbers and percentages work, perhaps you need to find a field of work.

lol.

So Hawaii had 300 cases from March through June... or about 75 per month.

And then they had 1900 in July.

My bad... no cause for alarm there.

Seems to me like most of the country and much of the world is having a big outbreak

Yall just love to mask-debate dont you??

So is 1,900 new cases (or whatever the number is) over 30 days is a huge spike to you? Please tell me what you think of Florida right now? Or since you believe in conspiracy theories, may be Hawaiian officials are cooking their books like FL to make Trump look bad. That's gotta be it.

What's their cases per 100K? Still dead last? Yeah, I'd say there's no cause for alarm at this time.

Boy... a nerve seems to be struck.

Large cases numbers don't really concern me. But seeing a completely isolated state who mandates quarantines and masks have such a large growth (yes on a small basis) is interesting.

Maybe this thing is just gonna run its course.
