2020 Trade Deadline Thread

Dansby is down to two years of control and getting more expensive and no signs of an extension in sight. And it's still not clear whether he's ever going to be a star.

Braves have basically no PA vs LHP, but man their numbers vs lefties are bad. Dansby is at a 17 wRC+, I think,.

Don't think a Dansby extension is too much of a concern - if they want him beyond the point that they already control him, he's not likely going anywhere. Dansby's turning into a really solid player, but he's not the type of guy someone's going to pay a huge amount to land as a free-agent. Hometown discounts get talked about with a lot more players that are likely to ever give them, but Dansby and Freeman are two of those more likely to than not.

This tells me they feel pretty good about Hamel’s return.

Also....we aren’t going to take much salary on unless we subtract one (like Ender). Count on it.

Probably a long shot, but be nice if folty mid-90s returned

I don’t think you can count on him for anything other then what he’s been lately although I hope I’m wrong.
Our best hope for internal options imo is Wright to learn how to pitch and trust his stuff and Hamels to not be injured.
Although I think the Braves are wrong, I doubt they give Touki another chance.

I recant my statement for the most part. I do like how preller went all in on the rebuild and loaded up on prospects. He got great value from the international market as well as trades and drafting. That team is pretty damn good and has a good farm to boot. He has done a good job.

Preller is a pretty good example of how a GM can't really go too wrong by tearing an organization down early.

You know, if you don't get busted lying and cheating and then insist on continuing to lie and cheat.

Interesting comment about the flags.

I don't think the Padres are very likely to fly a 2020 flag, but whatever.

It will now be of interest to see if the Indians flip some of these prospects for an OF or if moving Clevinger was just about clearing air in the clubhouse and trying to extend their run with a fresh crop of prospects.

Even if we did end up getting Clevenger ...I don’t think that puts us over the top. With no Soroka , Fried still being pretty young, Anderson a rookie, and Hamels questionable to start one game ever,,,would that been enough?

No.

The trade would have set us up nicely for the next two years for sure. That’s actually what I would have been more excited about. I just don’t see us winning it all this year.

Why not?

They are 5th in pitching WAR and just added a solid pitcher who was 4+ the last two seasons. They are #1 in hitting WAR. #8 in DEF.
