2020 Trade Deadline Thread

I agree. If Riley had continued to be one of the worst hitters in baseball I think you'd see us looking at any kind of upgrade there. But his improvements have put that way way down the list if at all.

The clear issue is the SP right now. Here's hoping a team is willing to take pay some salary this year.

According to my calculations, Lynn has $1.66 million left on his salary for this season. The Braves can't afford even that?

Next year he is set to earn $8 million.

Well my current opinion is they couldn't afford Clevlinger and he's due what 750K the rest of the year?

Interesting speculation that Starling Marte is on the market because the Diamondbacks won't carry his reasonable salary of 12.5m next season and that this is a sign of how teams will be cutting payroll next season.

Not sure if that's correct, but if it is that's a potential advantage for teams coming out of rebuilds that have few payroll commitments.

The Marlins, for example, are said to be in that sweepstakes.

Braves are positioned well given most of our high salaries are short term (except that Will Smith contract that’s aging like a glass of milk in Palm Springs)

Unless all the reporting is erroneous or a smoke screen, I wouldn't think that is the case. Based on how many names the Braves have touched base on, pretty much all of whom will make more this year than Clevinger.

Here's my yearly deadline day one-shot doozy - assume money isn't an issue...

Rangers Get:
Wilson and Touki, Waters, Langeliers

Braves Get:
Lynn and Gallo

Bring back Ozuna and Markakis on one-year deals in 2021 and take two shots at this thing before Freddie's contract is up.

Touching base by saying 'can you cover the rest of his salary this year'

Jesus Christ.

I don't usually comment on this type post but ****.

Do we know what we agreed to pay Puig?

No. But I bet it's what Neck is making or less. I could be mistaken but wasn't Neck forfeiting his salary by opting out? Not sure how all that works but I always thought they tried to use what cash they allotted for Markakis to give to Puig.
