REAL FOOTBALL Thread

Listening to Jason Garrett in the post-game, he makes 8-8, year after year, sound almost heroic.

I'll tell you something CC, if they had played as hard and as together, and as focused as them seemed to me to be tonight we'd be a lot better than 8-8. All anybody will remember was that last throw but Orton had a hell of a game. Of course I'd like to have a real GM and a real HC but as long as Jerry can delude himself into thinking he's a real NFL brainiac things aren't every going to change. The only time Jerry would change head coaches is if/when people are obviously laughing AT him, like with Wade and with Barry Switzer a few years back. 8-8 is respectable, at least respectable enough that the laughing will be at somewhat of a minimum, at least minimum enough not to jog Jerry's arse into reality long enough to make some REAL changes.

Oh and where are the BSPN arseholes who were bragging that Philly was going to drop 50+ on the Cowboy defense that "couldn't stop a nosebleed"??

No arguments here.

So with a backup quarterback, Dallas threw the ball 46 time and ran it only 18. Brilliant coaching guys.

You always know it's going to happen. Orton was having success but you simply don't want to give a backup that many opportunities. Eventually the reason they're a backup comes through. There were definitely opportunities to run the ball tonight. As soon as they get behind, the run game goes out the window. Orton played well but you have to rely on Murray more than you did. He was running tough. That fumble did kill, however.
It really is crazy how they insist on throwing the ball. Teams can win games running the football. The Eagles aren't always a modeal "run first" offense, but they kept running the ball even when we stuffed McCoy a few times. The room was there and he was going to find it. It's easier to run when you have the lead, but you don't have to pretty much abandon it when you're down.
