Looking Ahead - The 2020 Offseason Thread

Cameron Maybin released by Cubs, not much of an up grade

Pretty substantial upgrade over Almonte/Gore/Demeritte if he'd sign a minor league deal.

At least Cam's had some success at the MLB level and is a guy that can play all 3 OF spots IF he'd take a split deal.

The waiver wire is the plan.

That’s more of a gamble than a plan. You are literally looking for a person someone didn’t want on their team that can make a impact on your team. Highly unlikely. Maybe he just doesn’t want to carry extra payroll until after the deadline?

AA seems to find someone off the scrap heap every year that turns into a solid player for us. Sometimes multiple someones

With Ender and Jackson on the team, we essentially have a 2-man bench. This is going to get...interesting. Would've much rather seen Harris and Contreras make the team, at least until the minor league season started.

As long as nobody gets hurt, and Panda takes the bulk of the high leverage PH PAs from the pitcher, the bench may not be a huge issue.

Of course, that means TDA is going to get less rest than the Braves typically give the #1 catcher. Pache will be left to sink or swim. There is no backup plan for Riley. And they better wrap every starter in bubble wrap between games.

Mets pushing to sign Lindor to an extension before opening day. Would be for 300M plus per Passan.

Reddick seem like prime candidates who should be signed for our bench.

His grandma told me for the longesg he'd never want to play for the Braves even though he's from Savannah.

But who knows, nobody has signed him yet, he's already got a ring. So he probably would take a deal to play for us.
