Not that overblown since it's clear as day they are cheating. MLB doesn't really care. Bauer called out MLB for doing nothing about it while with the Indians and started doing it himself last year.
Combo of a lot of things. Arms are naturally better now, as a whole, than at any point in the history of the game. Pitching factories are pumping these guys out like nothing. You can actually cheat to increase your spin rate and MLB doesn't do anything about it. Hitters are at the current peak of TTO. Hitters don't care about strikeouts. It's early in the season.
Mostly luck on the walks part. 13 times he's taken a batter to a 3 ball count and he's struck out 8 of them.
3 weeks in and Lindor is rocking a 77 WRC+

The game of baseball is disappearing as many have known the game.
The Pioneer League(an MLB partner league) is installing new rules. Having a "designated pinch runner and a designated pinch hitter". The most alarming new rule to me is the one which will determine the winner of a 9 inning tie game. No more continuing on but will have a HR derby to decide the winner. EE gads!!!

Maybe last year was signs of things to come. But yeah. I think he will come around.
He has lowered his k rate and raised his walk rate, while sporting a .220 BABIP. He'll definitely come around. Just gotta hope that hot streak comes and goes before our series in May.
He has a long enough track record where I think the K rate will rise and the BB rate will drop. But yeah his numbers will improve.

Kinda hard for me to laugh at that since Ozuna's currently toting a 55 WRC+ around with him - as Freeman's "protection", no less. No wonder Freddie changed his walk-up music.
All the trying out new rules does two things...
1.) Gives fans something to talk about in game threads on message boards since they're bored *hitless and have so little ACTION to discuss with all the strikeouts, and...
2.) Will distract the players enough so that they get screwed again in the next CBA because they'll want to negotiate over stupid rules rather than paying attention to what actually makes (or costs) them money and jobs.
