And Francona on what he told Angel. "I just kind of told Angel, 'Why's it always happening when you're here?'"

Did Francona get tossed?

There's really no excuse for bad umpiring in baseball (especially this bad). In football and basketball, the game is much more fluid and it can be difficult for the refs to keep up given the facts the players are bigger, faster, and more athletic with each year. Plus, there's a greater element of subjectivity. Outside of balls-and-strikes (where there should be less subjectivity than currently exists), baseball calls are really pretty objective and clear.

I mean, to be fair, the call at first base happens every once in a while with all umps. That play is literally why replay exists (the botched call on the perfect game).

But the ball dropping in the OF was super bad. At least they fixed that bad call, unlike some of the other egregiously bad calls upheld after replay review.

I would be all for dropping progress on robo umps if guys like Angel were weeded out. Most umps are pretty darn good.

I don't think he was. Angel actually admitted the mistake which is something. Apparently he lost the ball in the lights and assumed it was caught. lmao

Means no hit the Mariners today. Looking at their box score. Hard to believe there is an offense out there worse than ours has been at times.

Braves are tied for the 9th best WRC+ in baseball. Quite a few team are worse offensively on any given night

Puns aside, Means has been phenomenal this year. I know the O's are struggling to find stars at the moment, but they better trade this man while his value is going through the roof. They are gonna be terrible for the next 3 years at least. By they time they have even .500 caliber team, he will be 30 and in decline.

Get you a top 20 prospect, another top 50 prospect, and a couple other talented wild cards and speed up your rebuild. Your fans will appreciate it more in 5 years if those guys help return you to playoff contention.

Fun fact, we actually drafted him in the 46th round of the 2011 draft.

I don't even know what this Means

They currently control the Means of production.

In the category of Baseball Is Beautiful

Braves traded John Gant for Jamie Garcia
Braves traded Jamie Garcia for Huascar Ynoa

Gant has a 2.08 era this year
Ynoa has a 2.36 era this year

Garcia last pitched in 2018

I believe @thethe was right all along on this.

We held on for that last unreal start and we flipped him for the right guy.

Who did he argue that with ?
