You realize Chipper pretty much refused to move from 3B in the late stages of his career don't you?
Where would he have moved since Freddie Freeman was occupying 1B in 2011 and 2012?
Also, didn't Chipper move for the good of the team to LF for 2 and a half seasons? In his prime no less?
Also, didn't Chipper take way less money to stay here? Jeter was whining over a few million.
How should he know he's not that good defensively? He was given several gold gloves. It's not his fault the writers lied to him.

Up until Freddie Freeman's deal, BJ Upton was the largest contract we've ever given out! That wasn't even close to 100 million either!
In an era we had Andruw, Chipper, Maddux, Glavine, Smoltz...the fact that neither received a contract as large as BJ Upton's is very telling! Yes I know there's huge inflation over the last few years because of the regional and national TV deals, but Jeter received a 100m contract a few years ago, and Chipper never even got close to that at around the same age while producing better offensive stats.

Actually Chipper signed for 90M. a 6/90 contract at the time it was the 4th highest in baseball behind Griffey, Brown, and Piazza. BJ was our highest paid per season. Chipper was our biggest contract.
That's interesting because I remember reading BJ was our highest contract ever (didn't specify salary).

I can never understand the Jeter hate. I mean, I don't like the monolith known as the Yankees at all, but I respect the heck out of a lot of their players.
As for Jeter's defense, he makes the routine plays without exception. Steady as a rock. He's no Andrelton Simmons with the glove, but Simmons probably isn't going to approach Jeter's offensive statistics.
Jeter is iconic (I hate that word, but can't think of another one right now) and some folks tend to deride those types when there's nothing better to do. This isn't a good example, but I grew up in small town Minnesota in the 1960s and it seems that just about every school in the athletic conference had the triple-threat baseball/shortstop, basketball/scoring guard, football/quarterback who everyone from the other schools "hated" because they were just so good. I think a lot of people think about Jeter in the same way. Guy's a first-ballot HOFer and I can't think of any argument why he shouldn't be one.

According to Mike DiGiovanna of the Los Angeles Times, the Angels are aiming to reach a multi-year deal with Mike Trout around the start of the 2014 season.
Trout and his agent were disappointed last spring when the Angels committed just a $510,000 salary to the star outfielder for the 2013 campaign. Trout is still in the pre-arbitration stage of his career and won't have a say over how much he makes in 2014, but it will be considerably more than the major league minimum if a long-term extension can be worked out. DiGiovanna says the new contract "is expected to make Trout one of baseball's highest-paid players." And the kid deserves it.

I didn't realize the Yankees were that bent about Jeter's defense. He put his head down and performed for several years, often in clutch postseason situations throughout his career, which is more than we can say for most Braves during that same period of time.
I salute the man. ESPN and MLB Network will be difficult to watch, though.
