I think I misjudged the Nats' return for TreaMax. They got the #21 and #43 prospects as rated by FG who are close to MLB-ready, plus some filler. I think that's roughly a fair haul.
Illegal to share my script for xanax but you are welcome to the xanex.
We close to a deal .... little “birdy” just whispered in my ear.... and we buying and biggly.
The Braves have won 3 straight division titles, and were 1 win from the WS last year. All this done with a middling payroll and barely touching the farm. Yet here we are, whiny folks with unrealistic expectations for a mid-market payroll still comparing moves made by powerhouse franchises to the Braves.
Wake up and smell reality already. The Braves have mid-market resources, and are performing very well for that level of resources. This year is an anomaly for several obvious reasons, and the club is well positioned to be right back in the thick of things next year.
While I also want the Braves to upgrade the manager position, reality (there's that word again) dictates that a dinosaur who is very popular in the clubhouse is currently steering the ship, and has gotten very good results until this year. I have no doubt an upgrade will be made when it doesn't involve firing a popular winning manager in the middle of his current contract.
It’s gonna be Rick Camp and Bruce Benedict....

If the Bucs would let go of Reynolds, what would a Reynolds/Rodriguez package cost?

I think Anthopoulos is fine. He is certainly following a different patten of talent acquisition than he did in Toronto and some of what he learned with the Dodgers may not be totally applicable with a mid-market team. He didn't inherit the best of situations given the international sanctions (although I would argue he inherited a team with a stronger long-term outlook than the team Coppolella inherited; so Coppolella gives and Coppolella taketh away). Our lack of top-tier prospect capital really impinges his ability to acquire impact talent through trades. We're back in the international market and I don't want to issue a verdict on Anthopoulos until we have more depth in the system. I'm still not totally understanding his draft strategy. but I'm willing to wait to see what the yield is.
I didn't quite understand all the moves last winter (and still don't like the Smyly signing), especially the pace of the moves, but if Acuna and d'Arnaud are healthy and Ozuna is healthy and decides not to have a domestic dispute, this team is probably right there. Injuries are part of the game and it's not like the Mets aren't banged up as well.
