Trades/acquisitions

The most interesting #Braves reunion would not be with Adam Duvall. They have inquired on Craig Kimbrell. But so many contenders — #Dodgers, #WhiteSox #Rays, etc — are pursuing.

The moves don't really make a ton of sense to me. Of course, I'm not a Duvall guy in the least and I think everyone here knows that. He will play every day and he really has to do that to be valuable. We just got Pederson and now we're picking up Rosario?

Best of luck to Alex Jackson. There still might be something there. Not a lot, but I think he can be a contributor somewhere.

He may become the next Mike Redmond to Max Fried’s Tom Glavine.

I guess I’m in the minority here but I like the 2 deals. We are no doubt a better team with Rosario and Duval and it makes the bench better. We aren’t winning the WS here and it was obvious we weren’t gonna sell. If we still had Acuna I’d say get a bigger fish but we don’t need to push our best chips in with where we stand right now. AA will get a bullpen arm or 2 and call it at that.

The Cubs are easily the most annoying during trading period…

Source confirms: Braves get Adam Duvall from Marlins in addition to Eddie Rosario from Indians. Team also checked in on Kimbrel but does not see itself currently as a factor in the bidding. First on Duvall:

AA wasn’t lying when he said money wasn’t an issue.
Braves going all out for that Divsion title.
Hope AA slows down or we will burn thru every past his prime player we have left!

It will be nice in theory to have options on the bench. In practice it will just make it worse when Snit botches it.

Obtaining two OBPs <.300 is pretty underwhelming. Braves are supposedly more analytically-driven these days. Hard to believe that given these acquisitions.

If Rosario is a pure bench/spot starter, I'm fine. That's how Bowman worded it. Duvall is more about familiarity, I think. He's an excellent defender and can get on a nice streak here and there. More needs to happen but given they've not sold much of anything, it works.

September and Playoff home games are important. This is the definition of smart buys since the cost was basically zero.

Ask around and see if someone wants Morton or Smyly. Find an under the radar bullpen option and lets see if the starting pitching depth can carry us to the postseason.

I think the analytics are telling them this is not the year to trade your remaining top prospects.

I wasn't advocating that. I'm just saying picking up Thing 1 and Thing 2 doesn't do a whole lot for me. Casual fans will look at HRs and RBIs and think we stole these guys when they were both sitting on the curb with a "Free" sign on them.
