Trades/acquisitions

Coming into 2021 I would say absolutely. But both have struggled against the part of the platoon they are supposed to dominate in. Pederson has a 90 WRC+ against RHP this year. Duvall has a 69 WRC+ against LHP this year. Surprisingly both have been better than league average against their weak side. Is this a fluke? A sign of things to come as they are getting older? I don't want to spend 17 million to find out. Maybe there is data to suggest they have been unlucky (and im too lazy to look it up right now) and they should still produce like one would imagine.
17 Millions but one of them will be a bench player and then you don’t need to contract Heredia, Panda and many of this crappy players.

We paying $30 miliion for closers next year? Kimbrel would effectively be a rental for us because we'd need to salary dump Smith.

Lot of good bullpen arms not named Kimbrel have already moved and would not have required bad wastes of farm resources to get. I think we are done for the day and gonna bank on Ynoa being a late inning reliever, Matzek being closer to what he was yesterday than walking the bases loaded and Newcomb being good Newcomb.

Duvall--like a lot of players--appears to do better when the plays every day and not that well when he's relegated to a platoon or part-time duty. It's a small sample size, but check out his 2018 after he came over and contrast that with his 2019 when he played everyday after coming up from Gwinnett and 2020 when he played every day from the get-go.

We will have money to spend this off-season, so I think patience is in order before talking about whose options will be picked up. Could be any combination of either/neither/both.

Not if they have to pay Ozuna AND get another DH.

Assuming the DH is a foregone conclusion. I expect the lineup to be roughly:

C: TDA/Lango/Contreras
1B: Freeman or Riley
2B: Albies
3B: Riley or Bryant or some other short term impact bat
SS: Swanson
LF: Joc or some other short term complementary bat
CF: Herdia until Pache/Waters is ready
RF: rebuilt Acuna
DH: Ozuna or a replacement short term impact bat

Buxton is reportedly ironing out incentives in a contract extension with the Twins. The 80 million dollars was supposedly agreed upon.

I'm pretty sure his 2018 numbers are directly related to the issues he had with diabetes at the time. But some of what you are saying may be right.

Where does Duvall hit? 5th is my guess. Miami and Atlanta are only 2 hours apart by plane so there's a good chance he'll be in the lineup tonight.
