I think at some point Tamir Rice has to be brought into the conversation
I’ve seen this online quite a bit, and while I understand what they’re saying to an extent, I think it’s flawed logic. There are many, many examples of people not getting shot by the police. They don’t get reported on, because it’s not particularly newsworthy. The Tamil Rice shooting remains a disgusting miscarriage of justice, but it doesn’t mean that the police should be out shooting everyone with a gun. We should celebrate all times that a high profile police encounter doesn’t end in the officer discharging their weapon, because that’s the desired outcome.
All that said, I think there is room for some criticism on the way police officers on the scene and this judge have handled the case. They’re not, as many on the Left have charged, doing anything grossly negligent or incorrect legally. However, in a case that is being broadcast to the nation, the judge is just being a goober. He’s allowed to be a goober, but he’s been one. You can maintain a presumption of innocence and be humane toward a defendant (and should!) without going on silly tangents about zooming in on your iPhone or having the defendant himself draw names from a hat. By being a bit too flippant, he’s taking what should be a rather straight forward non-guilty verdict and making it seem like some sort of conspiratorial farce.

Yes, its the judges actions that should be criticized.
Are we shocked that this is the opinion of the same person who 'likes the direction of the country now'?
I've been able to listen to the trial while I work. Comparing what I hear to the media reports summarizing the case has been enlightening. They have a talent for taking soundbites from the judge without the proper context, and for just ignoring a lot of testimony that hurts the prosecution.
The Grosskreutz reporting was a perfect example. I saw multiple headlines that he testified about how afraid he was, when the most notable part of his testimony was his admission that he didn't get shot until he pointed his gun at Rittenhouse and ran at him. That admission destroyed any argument that his injury could be anything but self defense, but most main stream or leftist media consumers never heard about it.

Absurd. This trial should have never happened.
The FBI, as usual, withheld evidence that showed Rittenhouse was acting in self defense.
How Rittenhous was there in the first place is a prime example of media malpractice diefying scumbag Jacob Blake.
I'm glad that judge is acting in this way. Rittenhouse shouldn't even be standing trial. He should be given an award for trying to defend his neighborhood.
Well for lunch I walked around and literally couldn't find a place that didn't require the mask, so I decided to not give them my business and skipped lunch.
For dinner I was meeting a client so couldn't skip. I decided to just not put the mask on and walk in. Everyone in the lobby with the muzzles on as I walked past them to the crowded bar where apparently covid was no longer a threat any more. Managed to never put the muzzle on. Felt bad for all the sheep
No, how Rittenhouse was there in the first place is poor decision making by him and his parents. Giving a minor an AR-15 and letting him pretend to be the police led to him being in a position where he was afraid for his life and led to others dying. If we accept that the police didn’t have a handle on the situation, a child wasn’t the answer.
Congratulations on not having to put a piece of cloth over your face when you otherwise thought you might have to. You’re truly the Rosa Parks of this new era.
