Official 2022 Offseason Moves Thread

From a strictly business POV, I'm glad Ozunas situation is now resolved. Ball is in the Braves court now whether to keep him, release him, or trade him....but just happy it's resolved after we agree with the suspension length or not.

MLB has been much tougher on other violators of the domestic abuse policy.

This makes me think there were mitigating factors beyond just the resolution of the Ozuna case in court. Maybe some legitimacy to the self-defense claims? I can't see MLB going that light otherwise.

MLB couldnt have came out with this at a better time. If Ozuna is back. 20 games does seem awfully light given what he did, not saying i agree with it.

DH- Ozuna
1B- hopefully FF
2B- Albies
SS- Swanson
3B- Riley
LF- FA OF
CF- Duvall
RF- Acuna

Really just need to bring back Freeman and tender Duvall. See what happens with a FA OF'er or just put Pache in the 9-hole.

Has to be something like that. We still don't know exactly what happened in the situation. But it now feels like there's a good chance we will see him back.

I'm thinking this is the most likely situation. MLB has some information that's not generally available. You better believe MLB has investigated this thoroughly. They wont want to go easy on him and then have some horrible facts made public.

The only other factor possibly in play is the CBA negotiations. Maybe baseball didn't want to antagonize the players.

Yup. I think the 20 games is basically telling us...this is for making us waste our time and getting involved. If there was anything substantial to show Ozuna was remotely guilty he would get a half season at the least. Just like every other recent case.

He was effectively suspended for half a season + already.

Braves released a statement on Ozuna that effectively concluded with “We are encouraged that Marcell took accountability and has learned blah blah blah… he will be our primary LF next season”

It's also curious that the 20 games is basically what he spent on administrative leave. lol. basically they are saying give us 20 game checks for our trouble.

BREAKING: Star shortstop Corey Seager and the Texas Rangers are in agreement on a 10-year, $325 million deal, sources familiar with the situation tell ESPN.

With Ozuna back on opening day, and assuming Duvall is the CFer to start the year, the payroll is currently $131.7M with holes at 1B, LF, SP and a couple bench spots. I expect them to spend ~$40M combined on 1B/LF, ~$10M on a SP, and a $2M+ on the bench, which would make the opening day payroll $180M+. That's pretty amazing.

MLBTR had him at 10/305, and FG had him at 8/240.

He pretty soundly cleared those bars. Texas isn't afraid to spend money and still lose, that's for sure.

There show blows....Correa gonna make that look small imo.

Rangers just added 9 wins with Seager and Semien

Who is giving Correa 10+ years though? Astros arent, Yankees arent, Tigers supposedly arent. Philly? Mets? Cubs? Giants? Mariners?

I don’t know if they have the core roster to justify the money they spent, but I love the three players they added, especially Seager and Semien. Those guy will deliver impact.
