Official 2022 Offseason Moves Thread

Yeah I thought it was gonna be way worse too. I feel like the big dude would have broken it up if it would have been worse. They definitely don’t need to be married. I think everybody should give him a second chance after watching it.

I 100% agree that Ozuna was pretty unlucky in 2021, as shown by the massive gap between his wOBA and xwOBA (.345 vs .284). For some reason that seemed to be a common theme for literally all Braves hitters, and for the most part everyone regressed positively by the end of the year. Ozuna obviously never got the chance to regress.

The Soler/Ozuna debate isn’t an either/or question, at least it hasn’t even been to me. We know Ozuna should be DHing, and we know LF needs to be filled. Soler on a short deal is nothing more than a good option to fill LF. I also consider Soler the best player acquired at the deadline, which is why I prefer him over Duvall, Rosario and Joc…but those players also aren’t mutually exclusive.

My issue with Ozuna is he strikes me as a poor work ethic player. That opinion is mostly an ignorant one, and he could come into camp in as good of shape as he did for the 60 games in 2020. I doubt it, but he could certainly prove me wrong. He is also older, being paid more, and under contract longer than Soler likely will be.

I feel like he knows he has a lot to prove after how last year went and he’ll show up in shape and ready. That’s what I’m hoping for anyway.

I hope we have them both. I compared the 2 bc it seems everyone is in love with soler and all-the-sudden is down on ozuna. I think this is more bc soler was a stud down the stretch and ozuna beats his wife or whatever. I posted the numbers to show ozuna is every bit the hitter soler is. Ozuna is still a good hitter imo until he shows he isn't

I’m not going to bother watching the video. My opinion on the matter doesn’t matter, and the people in charge of such matters already doled out what they consider to be appropriate punishment. Ozuna has since served that punishment.

But does anyone remember a few years ago there was a 10 second video of some grown man choke slamming a small teenage guy to the ground? Remember how everyone vilified that guy? Remember how the whole video was later released, and once everyone saw why he slammed the kid, folks seemed to agree the kid deserved it?

We don’t have any of that context, but I assume the people who need to know do. Their decision on the matter is good enough by me.

I think the question for us is not how bad it was or whether he deserves punishment. That is all old news.

1. Do we want him back and believe he will an effective member of the team?
2. Could we realistically hope to get rid of him without paying all or most of the contract.

Well said. Completely agree.

We shouldn’t pay a guy 18 million a year to play for somebody else. Yes he can help us and no way anybody is taking him at this point. We’re stuck with him.

Didn’t the report say that the police saw Ozuna strike his wife in the head with his cast? Where was that in the video?

A little surprised Freeman didn't sign before the lockout to be honest.

He seemed like the type that would want to establish stability well ahead of Spring Training.

My assumption is he really wants X number of years, preferably from the Braves or one of the LA teams and thinks he will be able to get it once the new CBA is done.
