Interesting... Bc the federal government has never been bigger, and has never spent more money, and has never been in more debt.

And to your own admission, the country has been run in the ground.

Can you connect the dots?

certainly can.
Population has increased 100%
since I was your age.

In debt because the tax rate is for all intent and purpose non existent -- with those of privilege weaponizing the political process to insure it favors them.

You never did read The Great Gatsby did you ?

but the whole country is talking about black lung, inner city mental healt and of course our crumbling roads a bridges.

No infrastructure bill was going to pass with a 50-50 Senate.

Certainly not one that seeks to radically redefine the definition of the word infrastructure. One that was actually meant to rebuild and expand crumbling and overly congested roads and bridges would have had a great chance. The ongoing and worsening cargo ship backlog provided a great opportunity to improve port infrastructure. Instead we were offered environmental justice, tree equity, an expansion of federal government childcare, and lots of climate change spending. And 87,000 IRS workers.

I see. So despite a MASSIVE expansion of federal influence that happens to correlate with the cou try being driven to the ground, your diagnoses is its because we haven't grown the government substantialy more

Well... Carry on then

As far as cost, I didnt see anyone here up on their hind legs over the defense bill a week or so back ?

National defense is a Constitutional duty of the federal government. So is interstate commerce. The majority of the BBB money is targeted at things that are not.

I wonder if 57 understands the composition of total tax revenues and what their sources are?

I’m not against changing the tax code but pretending that wealthy people pay zero into the tax pool is such a brain dead position I don’t know where to begin.

Your point about the shape of WV is good. It's the whole "add trillions to the debt to spend a few billion on worthwhile things and the rest on progressive social policy" that creates the hold up.

By all means, find a targeted bill to address Appalachian health, education, and job opportunities, and I'll pester my Senators and Congressman to no end about supporting it.

Why do you reckon they never seem to do that? What do you think is the reason admirable policies like these are never broken out into individual bills? Why is it wrapped into a larger bill that is 2400 pages and 444,000 words long?

Disappointed this question went unanswered

Wasnt it Mitch McConnel that said his purpose was to insure "Obama was a one term President"
Change my mind that mindset is not a twork today

This bill isn’t getting passed because it doesn’t have full (D) support…unless you think Manchin’s goal is to make Biden a one term President …

Senate is in recess until 2022. ( ???)
We will have to see if it is back on the table

To answer not the question you asked ---- yes I would like to see the policies enacted

Don’t blame Manchin for BBB’s demise. If Congress actually had a robust debate and amendment process, this would have been sorted out months ago. Having the oligarchy write a bill and then twist arms has always been, and will always be, unrepresentative, stupid, and dangerous.

I think rural broadband upgrades are " super duper popular! "

I think re piping water systems in inner cities is " super duper popular! "

And what percentage of the bill are these items and the collection of all items that are actually popular?

Calls on Biden to use executive action as broadly as he can.

Also points out that the reason Dems are forced to work w such

slim margins is that there are no GOP votes to lower insulin prices/

to mitigate climate change/for universal pre-k/for elder care, etc.
