So, opening day rotation currently looks like this:

Teheran

Beachy

Wood

Garcia

Minor (mid-April)/Hale if he can't make it back in time for the first time needing a fifth starter.

If Beachy can't make it (velocity is a huge red flag, but I am hoping he is just scared to give it all he's got):

Teheran

Wood

Garcia

Hale

Minor/???

We saw how that worked out with Beachy last year. Can't rely on Floyd at all until he is actually back and healthy.

That would be my guess. Fifth starter is not needed until April 12th, and wouldn't have to make more than 3 starts in April.

So we start out with Beachy, Teheran, Wood and Garcia. Realistically, Minor should be back mid April. So Hale makes one start and Garcia would make four starts in April. If Floyd comes back mid-May, 2 more starts for Garcia in May.

So assuming Medlen is out for a while, Minor is back mid-April and Floyd back mid-May, Garcia and Hale would make 7 starts between them.

We'll make a move. We always do. Once teams start figuring out their rotation players will become available. Milone in Oakland looks to be an odd man out. Josh Tomlin and Marcum in Cleveland, maybe our pal Bruce Chen in KC.

None will be Medlen's caliber, but we'll make due with what we have.
