Spring Training Gamethread/Discussion

Heyward with a homer already today and Beachy with a scoreless inning.

I was really hoping that we weren't going to be relying on Beachy to have a good year but that is the postion we are in now.

Porcellow had a solid increase in his K/9 while keeping his walks and GB rate the same. If he can further improve those numbers then he might be a good starter. Put him in the NL and he might surprise some people. I'd be very encouraged with that move honestly.

I'm not gonna say Porcello sucks or is worse than our other options (he's certainly better than Freddy). But I'm not willing to part with Sims, Graham, Bethancourt, Hursh, Cabrera, Peraza, Caratini, or Hale for him. I'd part with others but not any of our top guys. I'd consider a move of aplayer like Schafer or Pena to go with trading a reliever/prospect.

While I'm loving what Heyward is diong this spring it's concerning that we have IIRC 4 homers and 3 of them are from Jason.

As silly as this sounds I don't think we can trade Pena.

I think we have enough depth in the minors to trade for Porcello without giving up someone that would hurt us. A deal surrounding names like Martin/Northcraft/Schlosser/etc...

Pena or Schafer huh? Must be aiming pretty low.

Beachy looks toast. What a damn shame because he was such a great story for coming out of nowhere.

We better hope that Alex Wood is ready to be a TOR type starter.

Brandon Beachy left Monday's Grapefruit League start against the Phillies after two scoreless innings.

Beachy was originally scheduled to pitch four innings, but no word yet on the reason for the change. He allowed two hits and two walks while striking out one and didn't appear to be throwing all that hard.

#Braves Beachy left game with tightness in biceps, which he said has bothered him in 2 previous starts but worsened today.

Its amazing. Finally some great vibes going into a season because of the new stadium and ownership willing to spend money and then we have two probably three starters going down.

Not the end of the world.

Unfortunately waiting Meds needs TJ

#Braves Beachy said ligament is "fine" in his pitching elbow and that the discomfort is nothing like before his '12 TJ surgery or '13 scope.
